Pole climber

... Read moreStepping into the world of pole climbing has been one of the most unexpected and empowering journeys I’ve ever embarked on. When I first heard about it, I admit I was intimidated. But fueled by a desire to 'embrace vulnerability' and challenge myself, I decided to give it a try. It's not just about strength; it's about finding your inner 'courage' and learning to trust your body in ways you never thought possible. For anyone curious about becoming a 'pole climber' and wondering about those initial 'pole climb beginner steps,' let me share my experience. My first piece of advice is to find a reputable studio with certified instructors. A good beginner class will focus on fundamental conditioning, safety, and basic spins and holds before you even attempt to climb. Don't worry about being strong enough – that comes with practice! You'll often start with floor work, learning to engage your core and understand body mechanics. What to wear is super important! Think skin exposure for grip. Short shorts and a sports bra are typical, as your skin creates friction against the pole. Avoid any lotions or oils on the day of your class, as they'll make the pole incredibly slippery – a lesson I learned the hard way! Bringing water and a small towel is also a good idea. This is definitely one of those 'what’s in my bag' moments where less is more for grip, but essentials are key for comfort. Those first few sessions can be tough, both physically and mentally. You'll likely encounter moments where your muscles ache, or you feel like you're not getting it. I remember thinking, 'Y'all work too hard, is this why?' after my first session. It truly pushes your limits, and sometimes that little voice might even playfully taunt, 'U mad?' when you can't quite nail a move. But pushing past that initial discomfort is where the transformation begins. It's exhilarating to feel yourself getting stronger, more confident, and literally "changing the world one pole at a time" as you conquer new heights, even if they're just inches off the ground at first. My biggest tip for new pole climbers is patience. This isn't a race; it's a journey. Celebrate every small victory – finally holding a basic spin, lifting yourself a little higher, or even just feeling more comfortable around the pole. The pole community is incredibly supportive, and you'll find a welcoming space where everyone is cheering each other on. Don't compare your progress to others; everyone's body is different. Listen to your instructor, listen to your body, and don't be afraid to take rest days. Recovery is just as important as the workout itself. Pole climbing has become my 'game time,' a dedicated space for self-improvement and joy. It's taught me resilience, body awareness, and the sheer power of perseverance. If you're on the fence, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take those first beginner steps. You might just surprise yourself with what you can achieve.

One thing about me is that I am not a huge long distance runner. I love running, but I enjoy short distance runs or sprinting more than anything else. For that reason, I always try to come up with cardio workouts that are fun and provide variety so that I don’t get bored too quickly. Since my
