3 providers failed this patient

Just saw a patient for earwax removal who had already seen three different providers.

One sent her home with ear drops.

Another did nothing.

A third removed a small amount and called it a day.

Meanwhile, she was still dealing with clogged ears and hearing loss.

This is exactly why I chose ENT.

Sometimes patients don't need another prescription or another referral. They need someone willing to sit down, take the time, and actually finish the job.

Earwax removal isn't glamorous medicine, but restoring someone's hearing and quality of life matters.

I've spent years in ENT because I believe patients deserve thorough care, not rushed care. Every patient deserves someone who treats their problem like it actually matters.

That's why I'm an ENT PA.

... Read moreFrom my own experience working in ENT, I’ve seen many cases where patients come in after multiple visits to different providers without resolution. Earwax buildup might seem like a minor issue, but when it causes blockage, hearing loss, or discomfort, it seriously impacts daily life. What often happens is a rushed or incomplete removal—some providers may only prescribe ear drops or attempt partial removal, leaving the problem unresolved. Patience and precision are key in earwax removal. The process may require specialized instruments like curettes or suction devices, and sometimes multiple sessions to safely and effectively clear the blockage. It’s important that the provider takes the time to thoroughly evaluate the patient’s ear canal and apply the appropriate technique rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. The consequences of inadequate earwax care can include persistent hearing loss, infections due to trapped debris, and ongoing discomfort that interferes with daily activities. Patients often describe frustration after seeing multiple providers without real improvement. For anyone struggling with earwax buildup or clogged ears, I recommend seeking out an ENT specialist or a trained physician assistant who can dedicate the necessary time to address the issue completely. The goal is not just to remove wax, but to restore hearing function and improve the patient’s quality of life. In my practice, I’ve found that patients appreciate when their concerns are taken seriously and treated with thorough care rather than a quick fix. My approach is always to listen carefully, explain the removal process, and ensure the job is done right. This patient-centered care often makes all the difference in successful earwax management.
