Baby/postpartum items you may not think to get! Explanations below!

As a new mom, there are always things you learn, realize things you didn’t have and then panic buy sometimes when it’s too late.

These are things that I have learned, wish I had and then had to panic buy:

1. Medicines. I was unprepared for my son’s first few nights home when he was super gassy and I wish I had gripe water or gas drops handy. I was unprepared for his first shots without any pain medication and I was unprepared for him getting his first teeth.

Let me tell you, I felt so guilty being so unprepared but I didn’t know any of this. You can bet that I was so prepared for my second and I get all my friends a medicine starter kit because I don’t want anyone feeling like I did.

2. Meal prep. One thing I wish I did a better job of with both of my kids was meal prepping more and having more things ready to easily grab.

Meal kits or DoorDash giftcards are also a great option!

3. Hair ties/clips. Whenever I was nursing, I was always looking for a hair tie or clip to get my hair out of mine and babies face. I put a few these in each of my breastfeeding stations.

4. All the moisture. I found when I was breastfeeding that everything on me was so dry and this is also something I wish I had everywhere around the house. Plenty of lotions of chapstick. If you couldn’t tell, Vaseline is my fave.

5. Chargers everywhere! As much as you may try not to, you are on your phone or device a lot so long chargers and portable chargers are needed everywhere!

I hope this helps someone or gives you ideas to get as a new mom. These would also be great things to give a new mom as a gift!

... Read moreWhen I was preparing for my first baby, I underestimated just how many small but vital items I would need during those first few challenging weeks. In addition to the basics, having a well-stocked medicine kit with items like Mommy’s Bliss Ultimate Baby Gift Set—which includes gripe water, probiotic drops, and pain relief gels—makes a huge difference. These products provide gentle relief for common newborn issues such as gas, teething discomfort, and fever. Meal prepping is also a game changer. Using BPA-free reusable containers, like the Bentgo Prep 3-compartment sets, helped me organize healthy meals for myself when I had little time and energy. To save even more time, I recommend gifting yourself or a new mom DoorDash or meal kit subscriptions to reduce kitchen stress. I also quickly realized that having plenty of hair ties and clips at every breastfeeding station keeps both mom and baby comfortable by keeping hair out of the way, reducing frustration. Brands like Sprime or Kitsch offer gentle, no-damage hair accessories perfect for this. Breastfeeding can dry out your skin and lips more than expected. I filled my home with moisturizing essentials like Vaseline Lip Therapy and nourishing lotions to keep my skin healthy and hydrated. Vaseline’s advanced healing formulas were my favorite because they kept my lips soft despite constant nursing. Finally, the importance of having multiple charging options cannot be overstated. With all the baby-monitoring apps and communication with family, having several long and portable chargers available, such as fast-charging 10FT cords and slim power banks, helped me stay connected without interruption. Overall, these little additions made a big difference in reducing stress and enhancing comfort during postpartum life. I encourage every new mom to gather these essentials in advance—they really ease the overwhelming moments and turn new parenting challenges into manageable daily routines.
