Practical gift giver 🫶
Now being a mom of 2, I have learned to love being a practical gift giver for baby showers or kids birthdays.
Here are some things that I got for a baby shower as a practical gift giver:
Something needed. This could be from the registry or something they specifically said they needed. In my case, she needed another changing pad and crib sheets (I usually get crib sheets anyway because you can never have too many)
Burp cloths are the same - can never have too many (plus these were cute girly colors)
Diapers and wipes always.
Mrs mouths is a viral product but also works great. I also got her the Mrs. Mouth laundry sheets to try. Can never have enough laundry detergent with a baby!
Then when baby is born I will have another basket to bring. This will be special for mom. Self care items, snacks, hydration drinks, slippers. Plus I will bring over some cooked meals!
As a mom of two, I've realized that when it comes to baby shower gifts, practicality matters most. New parents receive countless adorable presents, but gifts that truly help reduce daily stress are the ones remembered and used most. For example, crib sheets and changing pads aren’t glamorous but are indispensable—babies go through these daily and can never have too many on hand. Another lifesaver I found are burp cloths in soft, cute colors that brighten up feeding times while serving a very practical purpose. Diapers and wipes are obvious essentials, but selecting hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested brands like Hello Bello, known for their plant-based, fragrance-free options, can be reassuring for parents concerned about sensitive skin. A trendy yet useful product I've personally loved is Mrs. Mouth laundry sheets and their baby-safe detergent. These make laundry quick, easy, and eco-friendly—perfect for busy parents. When the baby arrives, I like to switch gears and create a special care basket just for mom. Items like hydrating drinks, healthy snacks, cozy slippers, and even pre-cooked meals make a big difference when new moms are recovering and adjusting to sleepless nights. I’ve found these thoughtful touches not only support moms physically but also show them they’re cared for emotionally. Over the years, I've learned that giving gifts combining essential baby items with a sprinkle of personal care for mom strikes the perfect balance. With an eye on both usefulness and comfort, practical gift giving truly makes celebrations more meaningful and helpful for families embarking on the beautiful journey of parenthood.
