Roblox is ruining my relationship with my son
I’m at a loss here. My son is 8, and as someone who grew up loving games, I was so excited to share that with him. We had an amazing time playing co-op titles together.
Then came Roblox. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but now it’s completely taken over. I’ve tried playing it with him, but honestly? It just feels like a bunch of low-effort user games designed to push microtransactions. Pay for pets, revive, upgrade, it’s endless.
Now birthdays and Christmas feel hollow. All he wants are Roblox gift cards. He got four at his last birthday. If he’s not on the PC, he’s playing on his phone. If we take that away, he’s watching Roblox on YouTube. It’s nonstop.
Parents, how do you or how would you handle this? Setting time limits, or some other ways to redirect him toward more meaningful games again?
