I told my boyfriend I’m done paying 70/30 😤

I told my boyfriend I’m not doing the 70/30 vacation split anymore because I’m not his sponsor.

I love traveling with him, but watching him blow money on sneakers and gadgets while I’m the one funding flights and hotels? Nope.

When I brought it up, he said I was “making things about money.” Yeah… because it is about money.

Am I wrong for wanting things to be fair, or is this just basic self-respect?

... Read moreManaging finances fairly in a relationship, especially when it comes to travel expenses, can often lead to tension but is essential for mutual respect. When one partner consistently covers the majority of costs—like flights and hotels—while the other spends on personal luxury items such as sneakers and gadgets, it can create an imbalance that feels unfair. It's important to recognize that calling out this kind of financial inequality isn't about being petty or making ‘things about money.’ Instead, it often reflects a deeper need for respect and fairness in the partnership. Both partners benefit from transparent communication about money and shared expenses, particularly for vacations where costs can add up significantly. Setting clear expectations early on about how travel expenses are divided can prevent resentment. Splitting costs 50/50 may not always be possible, especially if incomes differ greatly, but finding an arrangement where both partners contribute fairly according to their means is key. The person funding most costs should feel valued rather than taken advantage of. Expressing that you’re done with a 70/30 split isn’t just about money—it’s a statement of self-worth and standing up for basic respect in your relationship. Genuine partners will understand the importance of this balance and engage in open dialogue to find a solution that works for both. If your partner accuses you of making things ‘about money’ when you raise legitimate concerns, it’s a red flag. Financial inequality often points to underlying issues in how partners view and respect each other. Ultimately, traveling should be a shared joy, not a source of financial stress or bitterness. Advocating for fair financial contributions demonstrates self-respect and helps build a healthier, more equal relationship dynamic.

Zero sugarcoating here! Women DO NOT PAY FOR MEN! Please stop being a PICKMEISHA & decanter all men! He is using the hell outta you & YOU are allowing this because NO ONE has taught you better. YOU are the prize but you let yourself be fooled into thinking he is. Pick up your self-esteem, gather your self-respect and self-love and level UP mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Get to YouTube & look up SHERASEVEN so she can get you all the way together. ANYBODY that thinks that a lady pays for trips, bills and other things for a grown ass man is a fool. He’s a man for a reason & that reason is NOT for YOU TO GIVE HIM YOUR MONEY. He is a DUSTY., also weak & sassy. Baby, you want a MASCULINE, MONEY, MAKE YOU HAPPY MAN. It’s cool to give a guy a gift EVERY NOW & AGAIN. Like on his birthday but that’s it! WE DONT TAKE CARE OF BOYS UNLESS WE BIRTH THEM & eventually they grow up & become MEN. As soon as you stop paying him, his entire demeanor is gonna flip. STOP BEING A PICK ME GIRL. You’re the PRIZE.

sounds like you are a meal ticket to fun. Because he did not acknowledge your thoughts or feelings. Dump the boy and find a man. Just my opinion
