The rules seemed to get murkier as the series progressed, especially when they took it off Jeremy. It left me wondering if the writers just needed a way to raise the stakes or remove some characters. It's a classic example of a plot device that starts strong but then gets tangled in its own lore. Speaking of lore, the origin and distribution of daylight rings always fascinated and confused me. Emily Bennett created them, but why were so few vampires able to get their hands on one? It seems like such a vital piece of protection for any vampire wanting to live a somewhat normal life. You'd think more powerful or ancient vampires would have sought out similar witches to create their own, or that the secret would have spread more widely. It makes the world feel a little smaller than it should be, given the ancient history of vampires. And let's briefly touch on fan theories and discussions around Stefan. Many fans, myself included, often wonder about different paths his story could have taken. While the show ultimately ended with his sacrifice, and his relationship with Caroline was a big part of later seasons, there's always been a lot of talk about who Stefan ends up with in the Vampire Diaries books. The books have a very different ending for the Salvatore brothers and Elena, with Stefan and Elena ending up together. It's interesting how the show diverged so much, leading to completely different character arcs and relationships.
