🇸🇬 using my culture pass for batik workshop !!!

🎨activity: batik on woodenware workshop in SG by Raya Artisans (avail on Klook!!)

💰paid $0 because of culture pass

I chose to make a coaster ($85), but you can also choose to make a plate or serving board ($120)!!

the workshop started with a short presentation by the trainer introducing batik and its history, which was actually rlly interesting!!

after that, we picked our designs and sketched them onto the wood with pencil before tracing everything with wax then finally colouring it with paint

overall it was rlly fun and honestly such a nice weekend activity if you wanna try smth diff !!

... Read moreAttending a batik woodenware workshop using the Culture Pass in Singapore turned out to be a delightful and enriching experience. The workshop offered more than just a hands-on creative activity; it provided a deep dive into the fascinating history of batik, a traditional art form. The trainer's introduction made it easy to appreciate the cultural significance behind the patterns and techniques. What I really enjoyed was the step-by-step process: starting by choosing and sketching the design on wooden surfaces, then carefully tracing with wax, and finishing with painting. This method not only taught me artistic skills but also helped me understand how meticulous and artistic the batik craft truly is. Choosing to make a coaster was perfect for beginners and offered a practical item I could use or gift. Booking the workshop through Klook was straightforward, especially with the Culture Pass enabling a free session valued up to $85. The option to make larger items like plates or serving boards for $120 adds flexibility depending on your interest and skill level. Moreover, I found that this workshop is an excellent way to spend a relaxing weekend in Singapore, offering something different from the usual activities. For anyone looking to experience Singapore’s cultural heritage through art or wanting to try a new creative hobby, this batik woodenware workshop is a must-try. It’s also a great opportunity to support local artisans like Raya Artisans while learning a traditional craft. Plus, with the Culture Pass covering the cost, it’s an accessible way to engage in meaningful activities and discover new talents during your free time.
