"What we feel is normal may be what others have prayed for their entire lives."
There was a sentence that read and then silenced me for a big while.
"What we feel is normal may be what others have prayed for their entire lives."
The short sentence, but instead, makes us look back at life in a different light.
Many times we live with what we have until we forget how valuable they are.
Waking up in a home with a family, having a job, earning money, having the opportunity to learn something new, or even having someone listen on a tired day, we often see these things as common because they have been with us for a long time.
But at the same time, many people are waiting for the same thing.
Some people want to go back and eat with their families again, but there's no chance.
Some people want to have jobs, want to have a stable income, so that their families don't have to be hard.
Some people want to have the opportunity to study, but have to stop their dreams because of the limitations of life.
And someone just wants someone who is ready to listen to him without judgment.
When we realize these things, we begin to understand people more.
We may not know what people who are walking with us have been through.
We don't know how much his smile hid his fatigue.
We don't know if strong-looking people are trying to reinforce themselves.
And we have no idea what the person we're judging is fighting about in life.
Sometimes the key lesson of life is not to beat anyone.
But it's learning to understand people.
Because as we see the wider world, we judge others less and more compassionately.
Mercy doesn't always mean helping with money, sometimes it starts with listening, from respecting differences, from not hastily summarizing anyone's story, when we see a fraction of his life.
After all, everyone is fighting a war that others can't see.
So if we still have good things in our lives today, thank them.
And if we meet someone on the way, be gentle with him as much as you can.
Because what we feel is normal these days
It could be something someone else has prayed for their whole life.
