Finding joy in little things
I am clawing my way up from a downward spiral. Determined to try and find joy/light/happiness in my spaces.
Living with an autoimmune condition can leave you so drained. So lonely. So angry and so frustrated. It’s almost a second job to try and stay above it all.
If you are fighting to pull yourself out of a dark space. Please know you are not alone. You are loved. You are needed. I see you.

Living with an autoimmune disease often means facing not only physical pain but also emotional challenges that can feel overwhelming. From my own experience and conversations with others in similar situations, I've found that focusing on small, manageable actions can create meaningful shifts in wellbeing. One simple practice is cultivating gratitude daily. Even during tough times, identifying a single positive moment—a warm cup of tea, a kind message, or a few minutes of fresh air—can help redirect negative thought patterns. This aligns with the concept of "finding joy in little things," which is especially valuable when larger goals feel unattainable due to fatigue or pain. Another approach I embrace is allowing myself to acknowledge vulnerability without judgment. Sharing feelings openly, whether through support groups or journaling, releases bottled-up frustration and fosters connection. Tags like #embracevulnerability and #mentalhealing reflect this process, emphasizing that emotional expression is a form of strength. Living with lupus and other autoimmune conditions may feel isolating, but reaching out to communities online or locally can remind you that you are not alone. Encouragement and shared stories create a sense of belonging and motivation to keep moving forward. Lastly, be gentle with yourself. Healing isn’t linear, and emotions will fluctuate. Prioritizing self-care, setting boundaries, and celebrating small victories make the grind a bit easier. These incremental steps helped me claw out of dark spaces and find glimpses of light even during the hardest moments. If you’re struggling, remember that embracing small moments of happiness and accepting your emotional journey are powerful tools. You are seen, valued, and capable of finding peace amid adversity.
