Moving in a different way

It’s really crazy to me, reflecting on all of this how I’ve been carrying on and doing life. The multiple moves that I’ve done have never solved anything and had has only led to more confusion and extreme tiredness. I don’t know why it took me so long to finally realize this, but I guess it’s better late than never. I’m hoping in this new place that I really do like that I can Actually find work or a place that will hire me and that will understand my health concerns. I did also just find out that this new place that I’m moving to provides a lot of resourcing around somatic therapy. I’m hoping that I can utilize these resources to continue on my Quest to managing my chronic illness. As I am doing these changes, I am hoping that other things will follow, that including having more support, and I am actually starting to believe the possibility that I might be able to pursue a loving relationship that might actually last more than six months. It’s been really hard doing everything alone. being alone has been way of coping. I am realizing that I need to open up my heart more and that it is OK for me to ask for help. I also have to realize that I am not a burden and then I am not too much. I am a good person. I’ve just been very lost for a very long time.

... Read moreFrequent moves, especially thirty relocations across thirteen cities in a short span, can contribute heavily to nervous system dysregulation and chronic health decline. This happens because constant upheaval stresses the body and mind, preventing the nervous system from achieving stability and recovery. The concept of Delay Gratification Addiction, rooted in urgency and fear of incompletion, often drives individuals to push through moves without proper rest or external help leading to overload and burnout. To effectively manage chronic illness and nervous system health during such life transitions, adopting new coping strategies is essential. Pacing is a critical approach—slowing down the process to avoid overwhelming physical and mental exertion helps protect the body’s fragile regulatory systems. Asking for help is another profound step, challenging fears of burdening others and opening pathways to emotional support and practical assistance. This not only alleviates stress but encourages social connection, which plays a vital role in nervous system regulation. Somatic therapy resources available in supportive communities or new locations offer valuable techniques focusing on body awareness and nervous system retraining. These therapies help interrupt old stress patterns and promote healing by integrating mind and body interventions. Utilizing such resources fosters rewiring of responses to stress and improves overall functional capacity. Additionally, embracing vulnerability by opening the heart and allowing supportive relationships can transform isolation into connection. Chronic illness often leads to feelings of loneliness and coping through solitude, but building lasting relationships contributes to emotional resilience and nervous system stability. Recognizing self-worth—that one is not a burden nor too much—alleviates internalized stigma, enhancing psychological well-being. In summary, moving differently in the context of chronic illness means pacing activities, seeking support, utilizing somatic therapies, and pursuing lasting relationships. These strategies contribute to nervous system regulation, lower chronic fatigue symptoms, and improve quality of life. Adopting this mindful, compassionate approach aids in breaking harmful cycles and nurturing a sustainable path to health and connection.
