Having gone through my own high school years, I completely resonate with how overwhelming a teenager's schedule can be. School often consumes about 7 to 8 hours of the day, and when you add 6 or more hours of homework, it leaves very little time for anything else. For a developing teenager, getting at least 9 hours of sleep is essential but often the hardest to achieve. Balancing sleep, schoolwork, and extra activities leaves almost no time for critical activities like exercise, socializing, hobbies, family time, or simply relaxing. These activities are vital not only for mental and physical health but also for developing social skills and emotional resilience. I noticed that the pressure to excel academically can sometimes overshadow the importance of downtime and personal growth. Many teens also juggle jobs or family responsibilities, which add to this stress. Understanding this, I believe schools and parents should consider more flexible schedules and break down workloads to prevent burnout. Encouraging teens to prioritize their wellbeing is crucial. From personal experience, dedicating time to exercise and hobbies helped me manage stress better and maintain a healthier balance. It's essential we acknowledge the real reasons behind teenage stress and create supportive environments that promote holistic development rather than just academic success.
