Power lifting essentials

#sports #lemon8challenge

I am no expert but as someone who’s been powerlifting for 3 years these are the essentials I’ve gathered and swear by.

1) lifting belt!

I use primal and upper gear belts and I love them, I stick to these two brands for most things.

2) lifting straps!

I have some from amazon but I am looking to get new ones, the amazon ones work really well tho

3) wrist wraps!

The difference is between these and lifting wraps is the lifting ones wrap around the bar to help you keep hold of it while deadlifting where these wrap around your wrists to give it extra support in benching. The ones I use are from upper gear.

4) liquid chalk!

You can get any kind but liquid is just easier mess wise and if you’re in college like me it’s the only kind allowed (at least that’s how it is at my school). And it’s good to keep grip on the bar. I actually got mine on tiktok shop and it smells like oranges.

5) knee sleeves!

The heavier you start lifting the more you’ll be grateful for these. It keeps you stable and adds support to your knees when squatting and they’re great for other exercises like leg press. Mine are from primal and I love them, I’ve gotten two.

I can do another list if you want and if any of you guys have questions please comment and I’ll do my best 😅

... Read morePowerlifting is not just about lifting heavy weights; it also requires the right equipment to ensure safety and performance. For those just starting out or looking to enhance their game, investing in quality lifting gear is crucial. 1. **Lifting Belts** - A sturdy lifting belt is key for providing vital support to your lower back during heavy lifts. It helps in maintaining proper form and reducing the risk of injury. Popular choices include brands like Primal and Upper Gear. 2. **Lifting Straps** - These straps are essential for exercises like deadlifts where grip can be a limiting factor. They help you hold onto the bar longer and focus on your lifting technique without worrying about your grip slipping. 3. **Wrist Wraps** - Unlike lifting straps, wrist wraps stabilise your wrists during lifts, particularly for bench pressing. Look for options from reputable brands that can provide the right amount of support. 4. **Liquid Chalk** - For a better grip on the bar, liquid chalk is a cleaner alternative to traditional chalk. It’s easy to apply and suitable for gym settings. Plus, it often comes in various scents, like the popular orange fragrance. 5. **Knee Sleeves** - These are especially important as you increase your load. Knee sleeves provide warmth, support, and compression to your knees, reducing the likelihood of injuries during squats and other leg exercises. Consider these essentials as the foundation of your powerlifting journey. Each piece plays a vital role in enhancing performance and safety. As you progress, you might find additional accessories beneficial, but starting with these trusted items will set you on the right path.
