... Read moreLiving with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) means every day can bring its own set of challenges. From sudden dizziness and fatigue to a racing heart, managing symptoms on the go is a constant priority. That's why having a well-stocked medical bag isn't just convenient – it's a lifeline. I've learned through experience that being prepared can make a huge difference in navigating daily life more comfortably and confidently. One of the most common and disruptive POTS symptoms is orthostatic intolerance, which leads to dizziness, lightheadedness, and even fainting upon standing. This is where electrolyte products become absolutely critical. I always carry several sachets or small bottles of my favorite electrolyte mix, sometimes even a small bottle of a sports drink like Bodyarmor, to quickly replenish fluids and sodium. Pairing these with plenty of water helps maintain blood volume, which is often a struggle for us POTS warriors. A folding fan is another must-have, especially during warmer months or in stuffy environments, as heat intolerance can quickly exacerbate symptoms. Just a few minutes of fanning can prevent a dizzy spell from escalating. Beyond managing the physical symptoms, POTS can also bring on brain fog, anxiety, and sensory overload. For those times, I make sure to pack earplugs to dampen overwhelming noise and fidget toys to help channel restless energy or anxiety. These small items can create a much-needed sense of calm in chaotic situations. It’s not just about medication; it’s about creating a personal toolkit for all aspects of living with a chronic illness. My bag also includes essential monitoring tools like a compact blood pressure monitor. While I might not use it constantly, having it on hand provides reassurance and allows me to track my vitals if I'm feeling particularly unwell. Knowing my numbers helps me understand what's happening and whether I need to take a break or adjust my hydration. And let's not forget the everyday necessities and little comforts that make a big difference. A small first-aid pouch stocked with bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relief is always smart. I also include feminine hygiene products, a hair tie for those sudden flushes or moments I need to cool down, sunscreen for light sensitivity, lip balm to combat dry mouth from medications, tweezers for tiny emergencies, and a pack of gum for nausea or just to freshen up. Each item, no matter how small, plays a role in making my day run smoother. Finding the perfect medical bag and customizing its contents is a journey. My advice? Don't be afraid to make it your own – functional and cute, if that brings you joy! Regularly review what you carry and adjust based on your needs and how your symptoms fluctuate. Being proactive with your POTS management, right down to what you keep in your bag, empowers you to live your best life, one symptom-managed day at a time. It’s about building a sense of security and control in an often unpredictable condition.

🤦🏻‍♀️ I thought you had drawn a red circle on the screen with a hair tie inside the circle, so I was looking for the hair tie, not realizing that the red circle was the hair tie.

I think I may have pots but I’m scared to go to the dr and ask about it, if you don’t mind me asking was it difficult to get a diagnosis if you’ve gotten one from a dr?
