haven’t played since i lost my job mid sumeru arc rip 😭 #raidenei #raidenshogun #raidenshoguncosplay #hijabcosplay #hijabiraiden
Hey everyone! I wanted to share a bit more about my journey creating this Raiden Shogun hijab cosplay. As someone who was deep into Genshin Impact, even a 'whale' back when Raiden Shogun first came out, she instantly became one of my favorite characters. Her design is just so iconic and powerful, and I always dreamt of cosplaying her. When I decided to finally tackle it, I knew I wanted to incorporate my hijab in a way that felt authentic to both Raiden Shogun's character and my personal style. The biggest challenge, as many of you might guess, was adapting her intricate headpiece and her signature long braid while maintaining modesty and comfort. I spent a lot of time planning how the hijab would sit under her crown and how to create the illusion of her hair without showing my own. It wasn't just about covering; it was about integrating it seamlessly into the overall aesthetic. This meant a lot of trial and error with different hijab styles and undercaps to find the perfect base. For the hijab itself, I opted for a soft, breathable fabric that was easy to drape and style. I played around with different folds and pins to achieve a structured yet flowing look that mimicked her silhouette. The key was to make it look intentional, not just an add-on. I also focused on getting the colors just right – the deep purples and golds needed to match her in-game model as closely as possible. Finding the exact shade of purple for the main hijab was a quest in itself! One tip I’d give to anyone wanting to try a hijab cosplay, especially for characters with complex hair or headwear, is to prioritize comfort and stability. You want to be able to move and pose without worrying about your hijab slipping or pins poking you. I used a combination of strong magnets and clear elastic straps to secure the larger pieces, like her armor and accessories, over the hijab without damaging the fabric. Don't be afraid to experiment with different fastening methods! Also, consider the weight distribution of props and armor; a heavy prop can pull at your hijab if not secured properly. Another aspect I focused on was ensuring the overall cosplay remained respectful and true to both the character and my values. It's about finding that beautiful balance where the essence of Raiden Shogun shines through, while still reflecting who I am. This project was truly a labor of love for me. Even though life got busy and I haven't been able to dive into Teyvat as much since the Sumeru arc (real talk, life definitely put a pause on my 'Genshin whale' days!), my passion for the characters, especially the Electro Archon, never faded. Creating this cosplay was my way of reconnecting with that joy and showing appreciation for a character I deeply admire. It's so rewarding to see it come to life, and I hope it inspires other fellow Genshin fans and hijab cosplayers out there to create their own unique versions of their favorite characters! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about my process!
