... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so thrilled to finally share my latest cosplay project: Moxxie from Helluva Boss! This character has always held a special place in my heart with his nervous yet dedicated personality and his iconic imp design. After countless hours of planning and crafting, I'm so excited to show you how I brought him to life.
Getting Moxxie's look just right was all about the details, starting with the striking red face paint. I spent a lot of time experimenting to find a brand that was not only comfortable for long wear but also gave that vibrant, consistent coverage without smudging. Pairing that with the bright yellow contact lenses truly made me feel like I was stepping into his shoes – or hooves! Safety first though, always make sure your contacts are comfortable and prescribed if needed.
Next up was his signature white wig and those fantastic striped horns. Styling the wig to match Moxxie's distinct hairline and volume took a bit of patience, but it was so worth it. For the horns, I opted to craft them myself, ensuring they had the right stripes and curvature, and then securely attaching them so they stayed put during all the posing! It’s amazing how much these specific elements contribute to recognizing the character instantly.
No Moxxie cosplay would be complete without his iconic outfit. I managed to find a black suit jacket that I could tailor to get that sharp fit, and of course, the classic red bow tie was a must-have. I even added a pair of glasses for some of the shots, just like in some of his memorable scenes. Every piece, from the suit to the bow tie, really pulled the whole look together.
Then came the fun part: the photoshoot! We started with some indoor shots, focusing on character expressions and details. It was a blast trying to capture his range of emotions, from anxious to determined. We also ventured outdoors for some dynamic poses, which was a great way to show off the full costume. It was awesome to even have a friend join in, dressed as another Helluva Boss character, complete with red face paint and black horns, making for some fantastic duo shots. Getting those pfp-worthy photos requires a bit of channeling Moxxie's persona!
For anyone else thinking of diving into Helluva Boss cosplay, my biggest tip is to pay attention to the small details – they truly make the character! Don't be afraid to experiment with makeup and materials to find what works best for you. The Helluva Boss cosplay community is so welcoming and full of creative ideas. Have you ever cosplayed from the show? Who's your favorite character to portray? Maybe a Millie cosplay is next on my list so we can complete the dynamic duo!
While Moxxie's 'full name' might be debated among fans, his presence in the show is undeniable. I hope my take on his character can inspire fellow enthusiasts and perhaps even give you some ideas for your own Helluva Boss cosplays!
