Non-traditional jobs I’ve gotten with my NP

So you get your nurse practitioner degree and they teach you that there are only really 2 avenues to practice: inpatient/clinic or academia.

Well here’s what I’ve learned. This is actually just the tip of the iceberg!

Here’s 2 jobs I’ve had as a non-clinical, non patient facing, non-traditional nurse practitioner with my FNP degree!

1. Clinical Science Liaison- this was my first role as a non-clinical nurse practitioner. I worked at a biotech startup and helped to run clinical research trials while building strategic partnerships with study physicians and other physician thought leaders.

2. Access Partnership Consultant- current I work as a non-profit called NMDP. They used to be know as Be The Match and they help facilitate stem cell transplants for patients. In this role I build partnerships with hematology/oncology providers to help create equitable access to transplant for all patients. I provide clinical expertise in cell therapies and help to educate on advancements in transplant medicine.
