Teletubbies/Brat Look

NROR popped up at Bushwig this year! 2 days of fun & I knew I wanted to make a special look for the event.

This look was inspired by the bright green Brat cover + Teletubbies recently being at Drag Con

✨Outfit Details:

Pants: thrifted, made into capris, took fabric remnants purchased at Joann’s (previously wall decoration in the studio) & stitched a trim detail on the pants

Top: thrifted & took the pants scraps & made shoulder/side trim details. Ordered a lot of vintage Burger King toys & used the Teletubbies plush’s faces as a .. pop

Shoes: thrifted & painted green & glazed. Hand stitched Teletubbies on each shoe.

Purse: old Kate spade bag from high school. Painted green & stitched torso of the Teletubby Plush

Earrings: made with vintage doll hair brushes

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my 'Baddie Teletubby' look, especially those iconic green Teletubby heels, and you're probably wondering how to get in on that vibrant, playful, yet undeniably edgy festival fashion trend! When I first envisioned this outfit, I wanted something that screamed unique, something that wasn't just off the rack. The whole 'baddie Teletubby' vibe is all about taking something nostalgic and innocent, like our favorite childhood characters, and twisting it into a fierce, fashion-forward statement. It's about embracing bold colors, unexpected textures, and a confident attitude. For anyone inspired to create their own version of Teletubby-themed festival wear, let's talk about those standout 'teletubby heels'. Mine were thrifted and then transformed with paint and carefully hand-stitched Teletubby plush details. If you're tackling this DIY, think about the base shoe – comfort is key for a festival! A block heel or platform can offer stability. For attaching plush elements, strong fabric glue or careful hand-stitching with a durable thread will be your best friend. Make sure to seal any paintwork with a clear glaze to protect it from the elements and keep your vibrant green looking fresh. But it's not just the shoes! The entire 'baddie Teletubby' aesthetic comes together with thoughtful upcycling. Take my light green top with Teletubby faces – those were actually cut from a vintage Burger King toy set! Don't be afraid to deconstruct and reconstruct. Thrift stores are treasure troves. Look for items in your chosen color palette – for me, it was that head-turning vibrant green and teal. My teal capri pants, for example, started as regular thrifted pants before I cropped them and added that playful yellow fuzzy trim. These small details really elevate the look from just 'costume' to 'fashion'. Accessorizing is crucial to pulling off the 'baddie' part of this look. I carried a matching green purse, keeping the color story cohesive. And those earrings? They were crafted from vintage doll hair brushes – a perfect example of finding unexpected materials to add a quirky, personal touch. Don't forget your makeup! A bold lip, like my red lipstick, can add that extra pop of 'baddie' attitude and contrast beautifully with the green and teal. The beauty of upcycled festival fashion is that it’s not only unique but also sustainable and often more budget-friendly. You're giving new life to forgotten items and expressing your creativity without breaking the bank. So, whether you're aiming for full-on Teletubby glam or just want to infuse a bit of playful nostalgia into your next festival outfit, remember to have fun with it, experiment with colors like vibrant green and teal, and don't be afraid to let your inner fashion artist shine. Your unique creation will definitely turn heads!
