Elijah was sent to meet King Ahab to warn that there would be a famine. And Elijah the Lord fed him with a raven and bread and meat every morning, and Elijah drank of the water of the stream. And God sent him to the widow of Zerephat to feed him and his children, and the widow gave him a last handful of flour to make bread for him and his children, and lay down for death, instead of Elijah's sympathy, but told him to make bread for him and his children.
What is important is that Elijah told God's promise that if the widow obeys the flour of the pot, the oil of the jar will not fail until God sends down the rain. The widow has faith in God and does what happens according to God's promise.
And it came to pass (I don't know how long) that the widow's son died. This is the idea that evil happened only because it was a result of sin, which may have been correct, but not in all cases. The son's death seemed to have lost everything, even with flour and oil could not be replaced. God added faith to the widow and Elijah by giving the child life back in him.
Israel turned to Baal, whom they believed to be the god of abundance; but God showed greatness over them by drying up the land. God's ways tended to counter the ways of the world. God's ways seemed to contradict probabilities. God sent a raven to feed Elijah. It was unnatural for a raven that even his young had not yet raised. God used a poor widow to feed him instead of a rich man or a man of money.
God uses certain events that may seem impossible, to manifest divinity through our lives, may we have a submissive, obedient attitude like Elijah, and a widow who gives little remaining flour and oil (the visible) to receive the promise that flour and oil will not be lacking (the unseen).
May God give us spiritual eyes, may God give us spiritual cognition, that we may...Learn...Understand...Obey...God uses what seems impossible to be possible to manifest his true God. Let us only have faith ready to do it. Everything is possible by God.
