Imma hustler
When I say 'Imma hustler,' it's not about being aggressive or solely focused on monetary gain. For me, it's about the relentless pursuit of knowledge, skill, and impact in the healthcare world. It’s about showing up every day, ready to learn, adapt, and make a real difference in patients' lives. My journey has been anything but linear, and that's precisely what makes it so rewarding. You might wonder why a nurse would have a background in paralegal studies or as a medical assistant. Well, every step has been a building block. My diploma from Ruby's Academy for Health Occupations in Practical Nursing in October 2020 was a dream come true, giving me the core skills to care for patients directly. But before that, earning my Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan University in May 2016 wasn't a detour; it was a foundational experience. Understanding legal frameworks and patient rights has been invaluable, especially when navigating complex medical ethics or advocating for those who can't advocate for themselves. It gives me a deeper perspective on patient care, beyond just the clinical aspects. Similarly, my certification as a Professional Medical Assistant from Harris School equipped me with a broad range of front and back-office skills. From administrative tasks to assisting with procedures, it taught me efficiency and comprehensive patient interaction, making me a more well-rounded healthcare provider. Each of these qualifications, these pieces of paper like my various diplomas and badges, represents countless hours of studying, exams, and practical application – a true testament to the 'hustle' I embrace. My ID badges from Daylight, Beacon, and Kandela Recovery Centers aren't just pieces of plastic; they signify my commitment to diverse patient populations and my willingness to work in various settings. Each center has presented unique challenges and learning opportunities, from acute recovery to long-term rehabilitation. Working in different environments has sharpened my adaptability and broadened my understanding of the continuum of care. It’s about being versatile, ready to step in where I’m needed most, and bringing my full range of skills to every shift. People often ask how I manage to juggle it all – the continuous education, the different roles, the demanding hours. My answer is always passion. The joy I get from seeing a patient improve, from providing comfort, or simply from being a steady presence during a difficult time, fuels my drive. It’s a demanding field, but it’s also one where every effort you put in truly matters. My 'hustle' is my commitment to being the best healthcare professional I can be, always learning, always growing, and always striving to make a positive impact. It’s not just a job; it’s my calling, my #nurselife, and my way of contributing to a healthier world.
