#onthisday wash your hands 💗
Throughout my experience in healthcare, I've seen firsthand how effective handwashing can drastically reduce the spread of stomach bugs, especially around peak times like June 24th. Stomach bugs, often caused by viruses like norovirus or bacteria, can spread rapidly in communities if proper hygiene isn't maintained. What I've found most helpful is washing hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom, before eating, or after being in public places. While hand sanitizers can assist when soap isn't available, they are less effective against some stomach bug pathogens. Additionally, being mindful about what you touch and avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands adds a layer of protection. It’s also vital to clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces frequently during outbreaks. By making these handwashing habits a regular part of your routine, particularly during high-risk periods like mid-year when stomach bugs often surge, you significantly reduce your risk of infection. Simple actions truly have a powerful impact on personal and community health.
