🌴 PUERTO RICO: things to do pt.1 🇵🇷✨

1. Playa Ocean Park – Calm waves, warm water even in March, and a laid-back atmosphere perfect for lounging. Bonus: there's a beach club nearby with amazing food—ideal for an all-day chill 🌞🌊🍴

2. La Casita de Rones – Puerto Rican cuisine at its finest. Local dishes, breezy ocean views, and that iconic pink building make this a foodie + photo hotspot 💕🇵🇷

3. Anita Gelato (Old San Juan) – Hands down the best gelato in San Juan. Expect a line—but it’s 1000% worth the wait. So many flavors, you’ll want to come back twice 🍨✨

4. La Placita de Santurce – Total fun chaos in the best way possible. Bars, dancing in the street, and non-stop energy. If you're looking for nightlife, this is the place 🕺🌃

5. Junglequi Zipline Park – The perfect nature break. Zipline through the jungle, hike along the river, and cool off in crystal-clear water 🌿🌊

6. LA SOMBRILLA ROSA – The BEST jello shots you’ll ever try, and they’re only $1! Neon lights, rowdy crowd, and good music—this bar does not disappoint 🍧💃

✈️ Save this for your next PR trip!

... Read moreHey fellow travelers! You loved my first peek into the amazing things to do in Puerto Rico, and I'm so excited to dive even deeper into preparing for your dream vacation to this vibrant island. Whether you're planning a full-blown itinerary or just looking for fun excursions, I've got some extra tips to make your trip truly unforgettable, especially if you're thinking of visiting in March or April. First off, let's talk about getting around. While exploring spots like Playa Ocean Park or La Placita de Santurce within San Juan is fairly easy with ride-shares or taxis, if you're keen on venturing out to places like Junglequi Zipline Park or other parts of the island, renting a car is a game-changer. It gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace and discover those hidden gems. Just be prepared for some narrow streets in historic areas and sometimes a bit of traffic, but the reward of seeing more of the island is totally worth it! When it comes to where to stay, San Juan offers a variety of vibes. Old San Juan is perfect if you love history, colorful architecture, and being walkable to many attractions. Condado and Isla Verde offer more resort-style accommodations right on beautiful beaches, great for relaxing after a day of adventuring. I always recommend booking ahead, especially during peak seasons like March and April, as popular spots fill up fast. Now, let's talk food! Beyond grabbing a scoop (or two!) at Anita Gelato or indulging in the deliciousness at *La Casita de Rones*, Puerto Rican cuisine is a world to explore. You absolutely must try mofongo – a plantain-based dish, often served with different meats or seafood. Also, look out for pasteles (a traditional holiday dish, but often available), empanadillas (savory turnovers), and fresh seafood everywhere. Don't forget to sample the incredible coffee and, of course, the rum! Many local eateries, even casual ones, serve up authentic flavors that are truly memorable. And if you're looking for a lively night out, places like La Sombrilla Rosa are just a taste of the island's vibrant nightlife. What to pack? Think light and breathable clothing! Swimsuits are a must for beach days at places like *Playa Ocean Park*. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring Old San Juan or hiking trails. Don't forget sunscreen (the Caribbean sun is strong!), insect repellent (especially for jungle excursions), and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. A small, waterproof bag can also be handy for beach days or boat trips. Regarding the best time to visit, March and April are fantastic months with pleasant weather, before the peak heat and hurricane season later in the summer. You'll find a lively atmosphere but generally comfortable temperatures. Lastly, embrace the local culture! Even if you don't speak much Spanish, a few basic phrases like "Hola," "Gracias," and "Por favor" go a long way. Puerto Ricans are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Take time to listen to the music, watch people dance, and simply soak in the joyous atmosphere. It's truly a place that captures your heart. Save these tips for your trip, and get ready for an amazing Puerto Rican adventure!
