Skin care beats makeup EVERYTIME
I started really experimenting with makeup in High school and it was HORRIFIC! It wasn’t till years later I realized that I was wearing the wrong shade in high school and even throughout college because the deepest shades were still wayyyyy to light for me but makeup had me in a chokehold.
I never went anywhere without a full face to cover up the deeply ingrained insecurities from being a dark skinned girl in this society (South Sudanese). Over the years I learned to live my skin and thank you genetics I have pretty clear skin for the most part.
As I’ve gotten older I realized that taking care of my skin and making sure my natural skin glows and radiates its natural beauty trumps a full face anyday. I knew I became comfortable in my skin when I didn’t need to put on full glam and hair to go to the grocery store but can just apply my skincare and go. I still have my moments and I still love a good makeup look but I don’t need to hide behind makeup to feel pretty since I now also feel just as beautiful bare glowy faced.

It's incredible how shifting focus from covering up to truly nurturing your skin can transform not just your appearance, but your entire sense of self. My journey taught me that a natural glow isn't just about what products you use, but how you commit to your skin's health. And along the way, I’ve discovered that integrating a few key elements can really elevate your routine and help that natural radiance shine through even more. When I first started prioritizing skincare, it felt overwhelming. There are so many products and so many steps! But I quickly learned that it's about consistency and finding what works for *you*. As I got more comfortable, I began to explore different beauty tools that could enhance my routine. Things like gua sha stones or jade rollers? They aren't just trendy; they can really help with lymphatic drainage, reduce puffiness, and improve product absorption, leaving your skin looking firmer and more radiant. I even got into using a gentle facial brush for a deeper cleanse a few times a week, which makes my skin feel incredibly smooth and ready for the next steps. These tools aren't about hiding; they're about helping your natural skin perform its best. Another game-changer for me was addressing specific concerns without resorting to heavy makeup. For instance, those mornings when I’m still feeling a bit tired and my eyes show it, I used to rely on concealer. Now, I reach for a refreshing eye gel. There are so many amazing options out there designed to depuff and brighten. I've heard great things about products like the Pipette Look Awake Eye Gel for a quick refresh, and while I haven't tried that specific one myself yet, exploring different brands for effective eye care has been a revelation. It's about finding those little helpers that make you feel confident and bright-eyed, sans makeup. Creating a dedicated skincare time has become a non-negotiable part of my day. It's not just a chore; it's a moment of self-care. Whether it's a quick 5-minute routine in the morning or a more luxurious 20-minute ritual in the evening, this time is sacred. It's a commitment to my skin and my well-being, and frankly, some days it feels like I'm leveling up my self-care game! Finding products that are effective and within a reasonable price range, even for specific items like a precision tool or a targeted serum, is part of the journey. For example, when looking for a good quality tool or product like an "Anderson pipette" (if referring to a beauty-related applicator or tool), researching reviews and price points helps me make informed decisions that support my natural beauty goals without breaking the bank. It's all about investing in yourself and feeling good in your own skin, knowing you're giving it the care it deserves to truly glow from within.
