3 of my fav matcha spots in New York City 🍵

And if you have heard of or went to these spots you’re blessed, cause they are amazing!!!!

First off is @sammichshopusa located in Brooklyn. We are basing this list off of matchas however their food is really good too! Nonetheless the matcha was creamy delicious and had the perfect balance of robustness and subtleness in the matcha presence!

@roast_nyc located near Murray hill was a similar feel with the matcha however my thing from them is their strawberry matcha. And I find it a decent price for a strawberry matcha! The strawberry also adds that great hint of sweetness without making it too sweet!

Lastly is @lephin.nyc which is my fav off of their unique flavors. Offering my fav matcha flavor EVER PANDAN! This matcha not only is creamy but super unique and tasty, a must try located in the East village!

Now you got some unique and delicious options to try! Where you going first? 🤔

... Read moreBeyond my top three picks, the NYC matcha scene is truly a treasure trove, and I've got a few more thoughts to share on how to get the most out of your matcha journey! When I'm hunting for the 'best matcha NYC' has to offer, I look for a few things: the quality of the matcha itself (smoothness, lack of bitterness), the creativity in their menu (like that amazing Pandan matcha at Le Phin!), and of course, the ambiance. Some spots have that cozy, 'feminine vibe' that just makes you want to sit and savor every sip. While Sammich Shop is more about the pure matcha experience, Le Phin really nails the unique and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. Speaking of unique, if you haven't tried a strawberry matcha latte yet, you're missing out! Roast NYC does a fantastic job balancing the fruit's sweetness with the earthy matcha notes. It's a perfect refreshing treat, especially as the weather gets warmer. And for those curious about other unique tea lattes, don't forget about hojicha! It's a roasted green tea, similar to matcha but with a distinct toasty flavor that's really comforting. While none of my top three specifically highlight hojicha, many dedicated matcha cafes often carry it, so always ask! It's a great alternative if you want something a little different from traditional matcha. Now, let's talk about matcha desserts! While my focus was mainly on drinks, many of the best matcha places in NYC also offer an array of delicious treats. Whether you're craving matcha ice cream, a delicate matcha cake, or creamy matcha soft serve, keep an eye out. Often, the same cafes that excel at lattes will also source high-quality matcha for their desserts. I always pop my head into a 'matcha cafe near me' to see their pastry display – sometimes you find the most incredible surprises! A good matcha dessert should enhance the tea's flavor, not overpower it. Look for places that use ceremonial-grade matcha for desserts; it makes a huge difference. For anyone wondering 'what is matcha' or why it’s become such a phenomenon, it’s finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. It's known for its vibrant green color and unique umami flavor, along with a host of health benefits. It's a wonderful alternative to coffee if you're looking for sustained energy without the jitters. My personal tip for a '#matchacrawl' in NYC? Don't be afraid to venture a little off the beaten path! Sometimes the most charming and delicious 'matcha places near me' are hidden gems in neighborhoods like Brooklyn or the East Village, just waiting to be discovered. Always check reviews, but also trust your gut and try new spots. Happy matcha hunting!
