... Read moreHey nail enthusiasts! 👋 So many of you asked about my rubber base routine, and I'm thrilled to share even more details on how I get those strong, beautiful nails that last. If you're looking to achieve a perfect apex and a durable natural nail overlay, you're in the right place! First things first: Nail Prep is EVERYTHING! Seriously, don't skip this. Before even thinking about your rubber base, make sure your nails are clean, free of oils, and gently buffed. I always push back my cuticles and lightly file the nail surface to create a better adhesion. Dehydration is key here, so use a nail dehydrator and primer. This really helps prevent lifting, which was a huge game-changer for me. Now, for the actual Rubber Base Application Steps: Step 1: The Thin Bonding Layer. This is crucial for adhesion. After prep, I scrub the base layer of rubber gel onto my natural nail plate. Think of it like a sticky foundation. It needs to be super thin, almost like you're staining the nail. Make sure to cover the entire nail surface from cuticle to free edge. Don't forget to seal the free edge by lightly brushing the product under the tip of your nail. This encapsulation really helps with longevity. Cure this layer for 60 seconds. This is your "thin base coat gel nails step." Step 2: Building the Apex and Structure. This is where the magic happens for strength and shape, especially if you're aiming for that rubber base apex nail structure. After your thin base layer is cured, pick up a slightly larger bead of rubber base on your brush. Place this bead near the center of your nail, closer to the cuticle area. Then, gently push it towards the cuticle without touching the skin, and slowly pull it down towards the free edge. You want to create that beautiful curve, the apex, which is the highest point of strength on your nail. Gravity is your friend here! Turn your hand upside down for a few seconds to let the gel self-level and find its natural apex. This is a fantastic rubber base nail leveling technique. Use a fine nail art liner brush to gently spread it evenly around the cuticle and sidewalls if needed, making sure there are no thick spots or pooling. The goal is a smooth, even surface that creates a strong natural nail overlay. If you notice any uneven spots, use your liner brush to gently guide the product. Cure thoroughly for another 60 seconds. Step 3: Refinement (Optional but Recommended). Sometimes, even with careful application, you might have a tiny bump or an imperfect shape. Don't worry! After curing, you can gently file and buff the surface to refine the shape and ensure it's perfectly smooth. This also helps with applying nail polish evenly later, if you choose to add color. Wipe off any dust with 70% alcohol. Following these steps has truly transformed my home manicure game. My nails feel so much stronger, and the grow-out looks fantastic with that natural overlay. Give it a try, and let me know how it goes for you!
