Protein is crucial—not just in quantity but spread evenly across meals to support muscle repair throughout the day. I aim for about 20-40 grams per meal and notice a significant difference in muscle recovery and growth when I do this consistently. Carbs often get a bad rap, but I’ve found that incorporating enough carbs, especially around my workouts, fuels my strength training sessions and helps me push harder. This not only preserves muscle mass but also boosts my metabolism. Instead of cutting carbs drastically, I focus on a moderate calorie deficit—usually around 250 to 400 calories less than maintenance—which allows fat loss without sacrificing energy or muscle. I also prioritize strength training over excessive cardio. While cardio has its place, too much can increase my appetite and lead to burnout. Weightlifting, on the other hand, helps me maintain and build muscle while shedding fat, which keeps my body composition improving sustainably. Lastly, consistency beats perfection every time. It’s tempting to follow extreme diets or overtrain, but staying consistent with moderate eating habits and regular strength training has brought me better results and preserved my mental well-being. This balanced approach helps me build muscle, lose fat, and keep my sanity intact—all crucial for long-term success.
