red & blonde hair formula 🍒🎲🩶
I did this color combo back in 2022 & still get questions about how I achieved it! Here’s a video I filmed back then when I did it, be sure to pause to read for product details throughout the video. I am not a licensed cosmetologist or hair colorist, so no my methods are not perfect by any means. If you ever wanna find lists & links of products I use I have a bendable page that is listed on my link tree. It’s got everything from skincare to recipe’s! Hope this was helpful. 🫶🏼 #hairdye #vividhaircolor #hairtransformation #hairinspo
After sharing my red and blonde hair journey, I've had so many questions about finding the perfect blend and maintaining such a vibrant look. It's a stunning combination that truly stands out, and while my original post covered my personal formula, let's dive deeper into some common questions and ideas to help you achieve your own dream red and blonde hair! First off, when we talk about 'red and blonde hair ideas,' there's a spectrum of styles. You could go for classic red with blonde highlights, where the lighter strands really pop against a rich red base. Or perhaps blonde hair with red tips, a playful look that's easy to achieve and maintain. Another popular choice is a vibrant split dye, where half your hair is red and the other blonde, making a bold statement. Don't forget peek-a-boo highlights, where the red or blonde is hidden underneath, only to be revealed with movement! One query I often see is 'what happens if you mix blonde and red hair dye?' This is where things get interesting and a bit tricky! Directly mixing a red and blonde dye together isn't usually the way to get a clean red and blonde look. Depending on the undertones of the blonde and red, you might end up with unwanted orange, pink, or even muddy brown tones. Achieving distinct red and blonde sections typically involves lightening the hair first (using a lightener and developer, like the Ion Bright White Powder Lightener with Ion sensitive scalp 30 vol developer I used for my roots, or a 20 vol for other areas) to your desired blonde level, and then applying red dye to specific sections. If you're going from a previously colored hair, you might need an additional step like stripping old color, being super cautious as I was with the one n'only bleach to prevent damage. Once lightened, a good toner (like Wella T18) is crucial to neutralize unwanted yellow or brassy tones and create a clean blonde canvas. Then, you can apply your chosen red shade. For vibrant red areas, products like L'Oreal hicolor hilights in red with clariol 30 vol. extra lift or Ion brights permanent in Red are fantastic options for intensity and longevity. Remember, always do a strand test to see how the colors will react with your hair, especially if it's been previously colored. Maintaining your red and blonde hair is key to keeping it looking fresh. Red is notorious for fading quickly, so using color-safe shampoos and conditioners is a must. Washing your hair with cooler water can also help lock in the color. Consider using a leave-in conditioner or heat protectant, especially if you use heat styling tools, as heat can accelerate color fade. Regular touch-ups will be necessary for both your roots and the vibrant red sections to keep everything looking sharp. While my methods are based on personal experience and I'm not a licensed cosmetologist, these general tips can make a huge difference in preserving your beautiful, unique red and blonde creation!
