Part 1/10 spiritual self-sabotage
Spirituality, to me, isn’t about escaping life.
It’s about learning how to live inside it with honesty
It’s the nervous system's work.
It's about establishing boundaries.
It’s about analyzing and accepting grief.
It’s about expressing and creating art.
It’s morning light and uncomfortable conversations.
This series is about the subtle ways we self-sabotage in the name of “healing” and how to return to embodiment instead.

In my own spiritual journey, I’ve come to realize that true spirituality isn’t about avoiding the challenges of life but rather meeting them with honesty and presence. For example, establishing clear boundaries has been a critical step in protecting my energy and fostering healthier relationships. It took time to accept that saying no isn’t selfish but essential to maintaining inner balance. Processing grief openly has also played a transformative role. Instead of suppressing uncomfortable emotions, I started to analyze and acknowledge them, which allowed me to heal more deeply. I began journaling and expressing my feelings through various art forms — painting, writing, and even music — which helped me to externalize anguish and find moments of beauty amidst pain. Spirituality also involves tuning into the body and nervous system. Practices like mindful breathing and gentle movement have been crucial in reconnecting with my physical self, helping me to stay grounded instead of getting lost in abstract ideas of healing. Facing uncomfortable conversations with others, though challenging, has promoted authenticity and deeper connection, revealing that growth often happens outside our comfort zones. This approach to spirituality—embracing discomfort, practicing honest vulnerability, and fostering creative expression—is an ongoing process. If you are navigating your inner work, remember that healing isn’t a destination but a continuous journey of embodiment, acceptance, and honest living. Following communities like #innerpeacepath can offer valuable support and inspiration along the way.
