🦃What are your holiday plans?🎄

Photo: My Crafty fall sign (by: Me 😊) Full picture next slide!

I find myself getting overwhelmed through the holidays, through all of the planning, and trying to figure out what everyone wants for Christmas, and picking out the foods you are making/bringing to the holiday family get together.

I don't have too many plans for Thanksgiving, I'm not sure if my family is coming over to where I am staying or not, so I'm getting prepared to be totally unprepared on that one. 😅

Although for Christmas, I have a lot more people in my life to buy/make presents for this year, and I always procrastinate, making the presents which is why I opted to buy more presents this year. Which wasn't too bad of an idea. I planned it in my budget to get gifts, but now I'm on shopping spree after shopping spree cause there are some pretty good deals on things this year for the items I'm getting them. I have finally stopped for a bit after getting the last few items I wanted to get them, but black friday is coming up, and I'm not sure if I want to participate this year or not.

Anyhow, my plans for Christmas are to visit my home state to see my relatives and some friends if I'm able to. Hopefully, it'll be less chaotic this year, and I have to go to 3 or 4 different family gatherings, which is more than last year, but a bit more planned out than just sporadically showing up to anywhere. I still have more to clean, and I have to get started on wrapping the gifts for my family and friends for this Christmas! Thank you for attending my Ted talk!

If you like the festive sign I made, let me know in the comments!

What are your holiday plans for this season?

... Read moreLike many of you, I often find the holiday season, despite its joy, can quickly turn into a whirlwind of stress and overwhelm. My original post touched on the chaos of planning, gift-buying, and the hope for a less frantic Christmas. This year, my goal is to carve out a bit more 'sanctuary and seclusion' amidst the festive frenzy, especially with more gatherings planned than last year. Here are some personal tactics I'm employing to find peace and reduce stress: One thing I've learned is the importance of prioritizing self-care and setting boundaries. It's incredibly hard, but accepting every invitation or trying to please everyone often leads to burnout. I'm trying to prioritize a few key events that truly bring me joy and allow myself quiet evenings at home. This is my version of creating a mental 'sanctuary' – protecting my peace and energy. Saying 'no' isn't selfish; it's essential for a sustainable and enjoyable holiday season. Remembering the stress of gift shopping mentioned in my main post, I'm now embracing a more mindful approach. Instead of shopping spree after shopping spree, I’m focusing on thoughtful, budget-friendly gifts. Sometimes, a heartfelt homemade gift, like making a decorative sign similar to my 'WELCOME PUMPKIN' craft, or other fall/winter-themed items, means so much more than an expensive item. Crafting, for me, is a wonderful way to de-stress and create something personal. It truly helps me find a moment of peace and seclusion from the commercial hustle. My home also becomes my ultimate 'seclusion plan.' I love to decorate, but not in a way that adds stress. Simple touches, warm lights, cozy blankets, and seasonal scents can transform a space into a personal haven. It’s about creating an atmosphere where I can truly relax after a busy day of holiday preparations, like gift wrapping or cleaning. Even just a designated cozy corner can make a huge difference. Managing expectations is another big one. The holidays come with a lot of pressure for perfection. I'm learning to let go of that. If Thanksgiving isn't perfectly planned, or if Christmas gatherings are a bit chaotic, that's okay. The most important thing is connection and cherishing moments with loved ones, even if they aren't picture-perfect. This mindset shift has been a game-changer in finding my holiday peace. Finally, I'm planning small digital detox moments. Even just an hour away from screens can feel like a mini-retreat. Instead of endless scrolling, I might read a book, listen to music, or simply sit with a cup of tea. These small pockets of 'seclusion' help me recharge and feel more present. By embracing these strategies, I'm hoping to navigate the holiday season with more calm and less overwhelm, creating cherished memories without sacrificing my well-being. What are your favorite ways to find sanctuary during the holidays?
