Everything I Read In August

Each month, I try to read 10 books. I also try to get a good balance of genres, book length, and vibes. For example, I avoid reading more than two sad books at a stretch. I also try not to put pressure on myself to get through all ten books each month, but I do hate to see a list run over. At the end of each month, I already have the 10 books for the next month picked out, but before starting on that list, I indulge the little bit of spontaneity in me by picking one random, unplanned book to read. Whatever suits me that day. My favorite read on this list was If An Egyptian Cannot Speak English and my least favorite was Beartown. I know Beartown is loved by a lot of people, but there's something about the narrative voice I didn't like. If An Egyptian Cannot Speak English was the perfect blend of romance and social commentary. Really short but super poignant.

... Read moreIn August, I focused on a balanced reading list to maintain variety and enjoyment. Among the highlights were 'If An Egyptian Cannot Speak English,' a heartfelt story weaving romance with social commentary, and 'Beartown,' which, despite its popularity, didn't resonate with me due to its narrative style. I also ventured into other genres and titles, such as 'Just Kids' and 'Trespasses,' to engage with different perspectives. This approach not only kept my reading experience fresh but also allowed me to rotate between lighthearted stories and those that provoked deeper thought, aligned perfectly with my monthly reading goals. By keeping the pressure low and allowing for spontaneous choices, I found joy in each page. If you're wondering how to curate a monthly reading list that stays enjoyable and diverse, consider mixing genres and including a few unexpected picks that may lead to delightful discoveries. With a variety of voices and stories, each month can become an enriching adventure as you dive into new worlds and ideas.
