I've been absolutely loving the resurgence of 2000s fashion and makeup lately, and nothing screams Y2K glam to me quite like an McBling inspired makeup look! It’s all about that playful, slightly over-the-top sparkle, dewy skin, and frosty finishes that take you straight back to the early aughts. If you’re like me and want to dive headfirst into this nostalgic trend, let me share some of my personal tips and tricks for truly mastering the 2000s makeup look. First off, let’s talk eyes. The frosty eyeshadow 2000s trend is non-negotiable for an authentic McBling vibe. I typically reach for shimmery pastels – think icy blues, pearly pinks, or even a frosted silver. Don't be shy with the shimmer! I like to pack a lighter, frosty shade all over the lid and then add a slightly deeper, shimmery color in the crease to give some dimension without losing that iconic frosted effect. Blending is key, but remember, perfection wasn't always the goal in the 2000s; it was more about making a statement. Next up are the eyebrows. While I personally don't go for super thin eyebrows 2000s style, I do make sure mine are well-defined and a bit more arched than my everyday look. If you're hesitant to pluck too much, a great trick is to use a strong hold brow gel to really slick down your natural brows and then fill them in sparingly with a pencil, focusing on a slightly thinner shape at the tail. It gives the illusion of a more sculpted brow without the commitment. The NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Ash Brown, which I used for this look, is absolutely perfect for creating those precise, hair-like strokes. For the rest of the face, it’s all about that dewy, radiant finish. I swear by a good primer to create a smooth base, and then I layer on a liquid blush like the Makeup Revolution Super Dewy Liquid Blush. It gives such a natural, youthful flush that's very true to the era. And my secret weapon for that ultimate glow? A liquid highlighter! I dab it on my cheekbones, brow bone, and a tiny bit on the cupid's bow. It completes the look by giving that healthy, luminous sheen that was so popular back then. Finally, no 2000s makeup look is complete without the perfect glossy lip. I usually start with a neutral-toned lipstick, like MAC's Myth, to set the base. Then, I layer a generous amount of a clear or slightly tinted plumping gloss on top. The NYX Butter Gloss in Fortune Cookie is one of my absolute favorites for this – it's super shiny and comfortable to wear, giving you that 'just ate a lollipop' pout that was everywhere in the early 2000s. These mcbling makeup products are truly excellent for recreating the style. If you’re looking for palettes with those perfect frosty shades, my Colourpop “Truly Madly Deeply” palette and the NYX Cosmetics “Swear By It” palette are staples in my kit. Give it a try, and embrace your inner pop star!
