BLUE AND WHITE CHINA

💙🤍💙 I went to the thrift store today in hopes of finding blue and white china that was affordable.

There was an older fellow putting tags on Chinaware while I was taking a peek at these dishes. He asked me if I liked all of the china. I told him that I had been searching for blue and white China for a project I'm starting.

💙🤍💙

My mother in law gifted me a beautiful display case. I am not too fond of the color, so I am hoping to do something like the last picture I provided.

💙🤍💙

The older fellow saw me nit picking through the dishes. The Handle Vase was 5 dollars, a couple saucers were .25 cents each, the bowl was about four dollars and so on and so forth. He asked why I was nit picking and I told him I was trying to start a collection but didn't know if I had enough money to get the entire collection.

His words verbatim were " How about I cut you a deal and I give you all of it?". In total disbelief, I chuckled and said, "Wouldn't that be amazing."

💙🤍💙

He responded, telling me he would give me all the dishes for a total of 5 dollars!! Again , in total , disbelief , I looked at him and said , "Are you serious?"

He said, "Absolutely, especially if you love it so much, and I have way too much glassware here, so i'm willing to give it away for a total of five dollars." I almost started crying and told him that I would absolutely take it all and give it a good home in my display case.

💙🤍💙

Needless to say, I definitely felt blessed today, and I can't wait to start my collection and my project for this display case. 🥹🥹💙🤍💙

Live long, Love long and prosper, my creative friends❤️

... Read moreFinding blue and white china at thrift stores can be a treasure hunt filled with surprises and great bargains. Many vintage and second-hand shops carry these timeless dishes, often priced reasonably, making them perfect for collectors and DIY enthusiasts alike. When hunting for a collection, it’s helpful to consider patterns and styles that complement each other to create an appealing display. A display case gifted by a loved one offers a charming way to showcase your china collection, but sometimes the original color or style might not fit your home decor. Painting or refinishing the case is a popular DIY project to personalize the look, from refreshing it with a neutral color to adding decorative elements inspired by traditional blue and white porcelain designs. When negotiating prices at thrift stores, don’t hesitate to express your passion for the items you’re interested in; sellers sometimes offer discounts for committed collectors or those taking a set. Stories like scoring an entire set of dishes for just $5 usually happen when sellers want to pass on their excess items to appreciative new owners, making the experience memorable and rewarding. For those starting a blue and white china collection, it’s valuable to research various patterns and manufacturers. Traditional designs often come from renowned makers such as Royal Copenhagen, Spode, or Wedgwood. Identifying marks on the back of dishes can provide insights into the set’s history and value, enriching your appreciation and knowledge. Finally, cleaning and caring for vintage chinaware properly will ensure it remains beautiful for years to come. Use gentle, non-abrasive methods to maintain the intricate blue patterns against the white porcelain base. This not only preserves the pieces but also enhances the joy of displaying your collection proudly. By combining thrift store finds, thoughtful DIY projects, and knowledge about your blue and white china, you can create a stunning and personal collection that brightens your home and tells a story of creativity and new beginnings.
