Boston Light: America’s Oldest Lighthouse Station
Did you know Boston Light on Little Brewster Island is the oldest lighthouse station in the U.S.?
First lit in 1716, the current tower was rebuilt in 1783 after being destroyed during the Revolutionary War.
It's also the only U.S. lighthouse with an official keeper, even though it was automated in 1998.
Still an active aid to navigation, it's maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard.
