This is a official Goodmorning #camp
As summer approaches and schools wrap up their sessions, many parents start thinking about sending their kids off to camp. It’s an exciting yet sometimes nerve-wracking time for both children and their families. One key aspect I've learned from personal experience is the importance of preparing your child emotionally and practically before camp begins. First, it's great to involve your child in the preparation process—talk about what camp will be like, the activities they might enjoy, and any rules they need to remember. This helps build excitement while reducing anxiety. Packing together is another wonderful way to get your child excited. Make a checklist of essentials like comfortable clothing, toiletries, sunscreen, and any special items such as a favorite book or stuffed animal. Additionally, discussing health and safety measures gives peace of mind. Camp counselors are typically well-trained, but reinforcing basic hygiene and safe behavior is helpful. Reach out to the camp staff with any concerns about allergies or medical needs ahead of time. Finally, a good practice from my experience is to keep the communication lines open. Establish how and when you will connect during camp, whether through letters, emails, or scheduled phone calls. This reassures your child and strengthens the bond even while apart. Preparing your kid for camp as soon as schools are out can transform the experience into a joyful adventure filled with growth and new friendships.
