Lessons learned in 2024
I have some lessons that I wanted to share with the gworls that I have learned and experienced throughout 2024 and will be taking with me into 2025 ❤️
Hey everyone! Building on the lessons I’ve been reflecting on from 2024, I wanted to dive deeper into something crucial: understanding motivation and its incredible benefits, especially in our professional and personal lives as we head into 2025. This past year has been a real slice of my life in terms of growth, and I’ve realized that truly grasping what drives us can change everything. First, let's talk about understanding motivation. It’s not just about feeling a burst of energy; it's about identifying your core drivers. For me, I found that my motivation often stemmed from two places: intrinsic desire (the joy of learning, the satisfaction of a job well done) and extrinsic factors (achieving a goal, getting recognition, or even just hitting a deadline). Recognizing whether you're more internally or externally driven can help you tailor your environment and goals to keep that fire burning. I learned that what motivates a "school bestie" might be totally different from what pushes me forward, and that's okay! Now, for the professional motivation benefits I’ve experienced firsthand in 2024. When I was truly motivated, my productivity soared. Tasks that once felt daunting became exciting challenges. This wasn't just about working harder; it was about working smarter and with more focus. I noticed a significant improvement in my problem-solving skills because I was more engaged and persistent. Moreover, sustained motivation led to better quality work, which, in turn, opened up new opportunities for growth and recognition in my career journey. It’s like lessons with your business – the more invested you are, the better the returns. One of the biggest lessons for me in 2024 was realizing that motivation isn't a constant state; it fluctuates. To combat those dips, I've adopted a few strategies that have made a huge difference. Setting clear, achievable mini-goals helped tremendously. Instead of looking at the massive mountain ahead, I’d focus on conquering one small hill at a time. Celebrating these small victories, no matter how tiny, provided consistent boosts of dopamine and kept me moving. Having an accountability partner, like my "school bestie", also proved invaluable. Knowing someone else was expecting me to show up or complete a task added an extra layer of commitment. Another key benefit I discovered was improved mental resilience. When you're genuinely motivated, setbacks don't feel like roadblocks; they feel like detours. You're more willing to learn from mistakes and adapt your approach. This mindset shift has been crucial for navigating the inevitable challenges that come with any professional endeavor. It’s about cultivating a growth mindset, understanding that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and refine your approach. Looking ahead to 2025, I'm taking these lessons with me. I plan to continue identifying my core motivators, nurturing my professional drive through structured goals and celebrating progress, and leaning on my support system. If you're looking to boost your motivation and reap its many benefits, I encourage you to reflect on what truly energizes you and build rituals around it. It’s been a game-changer for me, and I know it can be for you too!
