GRWM + Chat | Are you settled?

3 ways to tell if you’re settling instead of pushing yourself to reach your full potential. To start…I have been guilty of doing everything on this list at some point in my own life. But we’re rebuking any and all settling spirits this year.😭

If you are settled…facing your fears, challenging yourself to push past spaces/places you’ve outgrown, seeking mentorship & getting yourself out of your comfort zone is 🔑.

In this new year…If it’s not making you 100% happy, it’s is the perfect time to make changes. #makeuproutine #selfimprovementdaily #getreadywithmemakeup

... Read moreYou know that nagging feeling? The one that whispers, 'Is this really it for me?' I’ve been there more times than I care to admit. For the longest time, I didn't even have a name for it; I just felt a quiet dissatisfaction. It wasn't until I truly started asking myself, 'what does settling mean?' that the pieces began to click. To me, settling isn't just about accepting a bad situation. It's often more insidious, a slow erosion of potential where you become comfortable with 'good enough' instead of striving for 'great.' It’s when you let fear or convenience dictate your path, rather than your true aspirations. The original post highlighted three key indicators, and I can tell you from personal experience, they hit hard. Take the first sign: complaining. Oh, how familiar that was! I used to find myself constantly grumbling about my job, my routine, even trivial things. It felt like a release, but in reality, it was a huge red flag. The OCR insight, 'if you find yourself complaining a lot and if you're just kind of telling yourself this is the best you can do instead of going for the most out of life,' perfectly captures it. My complaints weren't solving anything; they were echoes of a deeper unhappiness, a refusal to take action because it was easier to lament than to change. Then there’s the second point: lack of natural excitement. This one really resonated. I remember a period where my 'friendship,' 'job,' and even my 'relationship' felt more like obligations than sources of joy. That spark, that genuine eagerness to engage, was gone. The OCR asks, 'does the friendship the job the relationship naturally excite you?' If the answer is a hesitant no, or if you have to force yourself to feel enthused, that’s a clear indication you might be settling. It means you’re living a life that doesn't genuinely align with your inner passions anymore. And finally, the often overlooked sign: difficulty being happy for others. This was a tough pill to swallow. When I was deeply settled and not 100% happy with where I was, seeing friends succeed, get promotions, or achieve their dreams sometimes sparked a flicker of envy instead of genuine celebration. It wasn’t because I wished them ill, but because their achievements inadvertently highlighted my own stagnation. The insight 'if it is difficult for you to be happy for others if you're settled and not 100% happy with where you are it's not gonna be easy for you to celebrate the success of others' really nails it. It's a painful mirror reflecting your own unfulfilled potential. So, what do you do once you recognize these signs? For me, the journey started with small, intentional steps. It wasn't about a sudden, dramatic overhaul, but consistently challenging my comfort zone. It meant saying 'yes' to new opportunities, even if they scared me, and 'no' to things that no longer served my growth. It also involved seeking out mentors and surrounding myself with people who genuinely inspired me to push beyond 'good enough.' Remember, growth isn't always comfortable, but it's always worth it. Don't let yourself get stuck; your full potential is waiting!
