Harsh Dating Advice I wish I took Sooner…
Some of y’all aren’t going to like some of these, and some of you might disagree. This is ultimately what helped me to find my Mr.Right💗 If you have any additional advice for the girls, drop it in the comments💗
1. Do NOT sleep with a man on the first date💗 This person is a STRANGER, you do not know them. Even if you have the most amazing chemistry, wait a while to see who they truly are. I never have a timeline but the rule I always followed was waiting until I had a STRONG emotional connection. This will save you from sleeping with someone who won’t stick around & also gives a better impression. If you sleep with one guy on the first date, how is he going to know you don’t do that on EVERY first date?
2. ONLY date the type of man who you would want your future daughter to bring home💗 Do you struggle with self respect? Do you date men who you know deep down treat you LESS than what you deserve? Then envision it’s the man your future daughter is bringing home. If you wouldn’t like him, send him PACKING.
3. A man’s friends are a REFLECTION of him💗 If he has respectful, kind friends then yay! green flag for now and proceed. But if his friends are disrespectful, rude, misbehaving gremlins that you can’t stand to be around, chances are he is just like them. After all, you are the company you keep.
4. If he says he’s NOT READY for a relationship💗Say goodbye. No, he is not keeping you around to be “friends” in the mean time or because he wants you when he’s “ready”. No, you are not going to change his mind. He’s keeping you around for FWB and to get a girlfriend WITHOUT the label and WITH the freedom.
5. All of his exes are CRAZY?? or is he?💗 A MATURE man will always have at least 1-2 exes who he ended on amicable terms with. If all of his exes are “crazy”, chances are he’s the problem, actually i’ll bet $20 HE IS THE PROBLEM. Save yourself.
6. Money DOES matter💗 This is may only applicable for my young to mid 20-something girlies. I am not talking about his income, he does not need to make six figures, and if he is living within his means that’s a GREEN FLAG. But if he isn’t financially stable or if he is financially impulsive (moderate to severe gambling/sports betting, only eats out, buys new things constantly), he is not ready for long term commitment (ESPECIALLY if you’re dating for marriage). You do NOT want your finances tied to someone like that.
7. NEVER voice insecurities until you have a STRONG emotional connection💗 Everyone has insecurities but letting someone know them early on allows them to use that AGAINST you later on. It also comes across as lacking confidence, self-respect and allows bad men to prey on you. Voice them to your close friends in the meantime.
8. Surround yourself with girlfriends in LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS💗 I want to scream this one from the rooftops honestly. Look back at number 3 on this list. The same applies to you. You want to get into a relationship? Surround yourself with ladies in healthy, long term relationships. Not only will they give you better advice on whether or not a man you are seeing is true boyfriend material, you can always go to them later on when you’re in a relationship for advice as well. In the past, I asked my single friends for advice when I really should have asked my taken friends and ended up making mistakes along the way. Personally for me, all of my girlfriends are in long term relationships, and 3 are married. They helped me find my Mr.Right.
9. DO NOT DATE YOUR COWORKERS💗 20 year old me made this mistake. Ended up being the worst relationship of my life, and guess who I see all the time now 3 years later? My ex. Don’t date out of convenience, you deserve better girl.
10. Recognize when YOU are the problem💗 My last post was about some heavy childhood parental trauma. That trauma really messed up how I viewed, reciprocated, and received love and ultimately messed up a lot of relationships for me. Recognize when YOU have things to fix as a partner and seek therapy. It will help you heal & grow into the partner you would WANT to have as well.
