Top 3 Crime shows if you love reading thrillers!

As a thriller and mystery lover, these shows are a MUST-watch! It's a mix of crime and mystery, and I think as a thriller reader, you would absolutely love these series if you haven't watched them yet!

✻ True Detective: True Detective is a crime/drama series where each season follows different characters and different cases. The cases are often complex, which makes the story really suspenseful and good! My favorite seasons are by far the first and third one; I've binged them in just a few days or so! The newest season (season 4) just got released as well!

✻ Mindhunter: Mindhunter is a crime thriller show that is based on the 1995 true-crime book Mindhunter by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The series follows FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, along with psychologist Wendy Carr, who operate the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit at the FBI Academy in Quantico. Together, they launch a research project to interview imprisoned serial killers to understand their psychology with the hope of applying this knowledge to solve ongoing cases!

✻ The Sinner: The Sinner is a crime/mystery drama series named after Petra Hammesfahr's 1999 novel, which served as the basis for the first season. Detective Harry Ambrose is the main character who returns each season, taking on different cases each time. The cases in this series are also very complex and suspenseful! If you like weird and creepy thrillers, this is the one!

Let me know if you have watched any of these and what your thoughts about them are!

... Read moreOkay, so let's dive even deeper into 'The Sinner,' because if you're actively searching for a truly immersive crime mystery series, this one is an absolute must-watch. I remember stumbling upon it and being utterly captivated from the very first episode. Unlike many procedurals that focus solely on 'whodunit,' 'The Sinner' masterfully flips the script to explore the profound 'why-dunit.' This unique approach, especially in Season 1 which is brilliantly adapted from Petra Hammesfahr's compelling novel, is what sets it apart. It’s less about identifying the perpetrator and more about understanding the deep-seated psychological triggers and hidden pasts that lead seemingly ordinary people to commit extraordinary acts. For me, the heart and soul of 'The Sinner' is undoubtedly Detective Harry Ambrose, impeccably portrayed by Bill Pullman. He’s not your typical infallible, charismatic detective. Instead, Ambrose is a wonderfully complex character – flawed, deeply empathetic, and haunted by his own personal demons. This makes his methodical, often unconventional, approach to investigating crimes incredibly engaging. You find yourself rooting for him, not just to solve the case, but to find some semblance of peace within himself as he delves into the darkest corners of human psychology. His quiet intensity and ability to connect with suspects on a deeply human level are truly remarkable, driving each mystery drama forward in a way that feels incredibly authentic and suspenseful. The anthology format across its impressive four seasons is another stroke of genius. While Harry Ambrose remains the constant, every new season presents a completely fresh, intricate case, introducing a new set of characters and a unique psychological puzzle to unravel. This keeps the series vibrant and ensures that each storyline feels distinct and unpredictable. For instance, Season 1’s exploration of Cora Tannetti’s inexplicable crime is a masterclass in building suspense through character study rather than just plot twists. It’s about peeling back layers of trauma and memory, making you question everything you thought you knew about motive and guilt. What I truly appreciate about 'The Sinner' as a crime mystery series is its commitment to exploring the human condition. It doesn't shy away from uncomfortable truths or simplistic answers. Each season is a slow burn, meticulously crafted to draw you into its world of hidden secrets and profound psychological introspection. If you’re a fan of shows that linger in your mind long after the credits roll, prompting deep thought about human nature, the impact of trauma, and the subtle darkness that can reside within us all, then you absolutely need to add 'The Sinner' to your watchlist. It's more than just a crime show; it's a profound mystery drama experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat and thinking for days.
