My mom put the wrong gas in my car😭

My car is a 2013 mini cooper that is supposed to run off of premium gas. She was trying to do something nice for me so she filled the gas tank and put diesel in, not knowing what type of gas it takes. It only had a quarter of a tank and she filled it all the way up. What is going to happen? Is this bad? Is there something I can do to fix this problem?? Please help, I'm panicking.

When diesel is introduced into a gas engine, it can clog injectors, damage fuel pumps, and lead to complete engine failure if not addressed quickly. It's important to act fast by not starting the engine and getting the vehicle towed to a mechanic. Mechanics typically recommend flushing the fuel system to remove the incorrect fuel and replacing it with the proper gasoline. If diesel has been run through the engine, additional repairs may be necessary, including cleaning or replacing fuel injectors. It's essential to keep in mind that certain vehicles, such as diesel engines, are equipped to handle diesel fuel, but a gasoline engine is not. Staying informed about the right fuel for your vehicle can prevent this issue in the future. Additionally, always double-check the fuel type when refueling. If you're uncertain, consult your owner’s manual or ask an attendant for assistance. Many modern gas stations provide clear labels, but it’s still a good idea to be cautious, especially if someone else is refueling your car.
