Questions for first time home buyers....

... Read moreWhen buying your first home, understanding the total cost of ownership is essential. One significant aspect that first-time homebuyers often overlook is the Homeowners Association (HOA) fees. It’s crucial to ask sellers or real estate agents about the monthly HOA fee and what it covers. These fees can vary widely by region and home type, from covering common area maintenance to utilities. Additionally, inquire about the amenities offered, as they may influence your monthly budget and overall satisfaction with the property. In many cases, homebuyers are not aware of potential increases in HOA fees over time, so asking about the history of these fees can be beneficial. Furthermore, researching the neighborhood's cost of living can provide insight into whether the HOA fees are reasonable compared to similar homes in the area. An informed decision can save future financial headaches and contribute to a positive home buying experience. Remember to consider all factors including location, amenities, and associated costs to ensure you choose a home that fits both your needs and budget.

Will not live in an HOA ever

$60/month. I live in a bougie enclave in Indiana, it’s pretty rare to find a house without one here because everything is newly developed. I appreciate HOAs because I’m obsessed with my lawn and I want my neighbors homes to look copacetic and equally as good as mine. However, if I found a nice house without an HOA I would jump to buy it.
