What’s one thing a therapist has said to you?

A therapist once told me, "You don’t have to fix everything at once. Just start somewhere." It helped me let go of the pressure to be perfect and focus on small steps. It made the bigger issues feel less overwhelming.

A common theme in therapeutic advice is the importance of taking incremental steps towards personal goals. Instead of feeling daunted by the end goal, focusing on manageable tasks can lead to a sense of accomplishment and reduce anxiety. This approach encourages individuals to celebrate small victories, which reinforces a positive mindset. Moreover, sharing experiences and advice, such as those shared through hashtags like #therapyquotes, fosters community support. Engaging with others who are navigating similar challenges provides valuable perspective and encouragement. Remember, progress isn't always about big leaps; sometimes, it's about taking one small step at a time. Therefore, if you find yourself struggling with perfectionism, consider learning to let go of the pressure to be flawless and embrace the journey of growth, one step at a time.

"Give yourself some grace" and "would you be this hard on one of your friends if they felt this way?" I have always had a problem with being too hard on myself. Not allowing myself the time I need to heal. Feeling lazy or worthless when a depressive episode hit and I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed. I miss her.
