Waxers please stop this

I HATE waxers who don’t use gloves for their services…

even for facial waxing. Why?

Because this can spread bacteria and potentially cause infections. Pinpoint bleeding is also a thing, and you should NOT be touching someone else’s blood.

I don’t wear gloves sometimes when I am waxing MYSELF. But a client? You will never catch me not wearing gloves, it’s for my clients safety and for my own

It's about something I feel strongly about as someone who gets regular waxing services: the absolute necessity for technicians to wear gloves. I absolutely hate it when I see a waxer not wearing gloves, and it’s something every client should be aware of. It's not just about waxing; think about facials, manicures, and pedicures too! Anytime there's potential contact with skin, bodily fluids, or even just open pores, gloves are a MUST. From my personal journey, I've learned that this isn't just a preference; it's a critical health standard. I've heard horror stories, and it makes me cringe to think about the infections that can spread if a waxer doesn't use gloves. As the original post (and the clear message from the 'OH SHEET wax studio' sign I saw once that reminded customers to 'WEAR GLOVES WHEN YOU WAX') highlighted, pinpoint bleeding can happen during a service. That's direct blood contact, people! It's for both the client's and the technician's safety, preventing the spread of bacteria and potential infections. When it comes to gloves, it's not just any glove. They must be disposable and single-use. I always notice if my technician is reaching for a fresh pair from a dispenser. The gloves used during waxing must not be reused, torn, or made of materials that can easily rip or degrade during the service. I prefer nitrile gloves myself, as they seem more durable and many people have latex allergies. And crucially, they should be changed between clients. Sometimes, even during a long service, if a glove gets compromised. Seeing a technician meticulously change gloves makes me feel so much safer, especially when they are waxing the face – it's just not sanitary otherwise, and you can get/spread an infection this way. From my experience, a good waxer does so much more than just put on gloves. They should NEVER double-dip spatulas into the wax pot – that's a huge red flag for cross-contamination of bacteria. I always watch for that! The workspace itself needs to be spotless. I look for clean sheets, sanitized tools, and a generally hygienic environment. After all, you don't want to leave with more than just smooth skin. Also, a professional waxer will always do a quick consultation before starting, asking about allergies or any skin sensitivities. This is part of ensuring client care and safety. They should also provide clear aftercare instructions. As a client, if you see any of these practices being overlooked, it's a sign to reconsider where you're getting your service done. Remember, your health and safety come first! So, to all my fellow Lemon8 users out there, let's advocate for better hygiene standards. Don't be afraid to speak up or choose a different salon if your waxer isn't wearing gloves. As the message from the OCR 'I hate waxers who don't wear gloves' clearly states, it's unacceptable. Demand cleanliness; demand safety. WEAR GLOVES WHEN YOU WAX!
