Had my last clinical day today ✨

Saturdays are a total wipeout day! Having to wake up early was rough but I’m so grateful for my clinical instructor and the site for all that I was able to see and experience. Others had it worse than me so I’m glad to have done all that I did.

If you have clinical this semester, how were they? Did you like your site? Please let me know!!!

... Read morePhew, what a day! Reaching that 'last day of clinical' milestone is truly something else. Like many of you, I'm feeling a whirlwind of emotions – relief, nostalgia, and a touch of excitement for what's next. It's moments like these that really make you pause and reflect, isn't it? For us nursing students, reflection isn't just a nice-to-have; it's crucial for growth. It’s how we process those intense experiences, learn from our mistakes, and celebrate our wins. Thinking back on my own journey, especially this last rotation, I realized how much I’ve changed. If you're looking for 'nursing reflections examples,' it's less about a perfect template and more about genuine self-assessment. I often find it helpful to think about specific moments. What was a challenging patient interaction, and what did I learn from it? How did I handle a stressful situation? What was a moment where I felt truly competent and proud? Even something as simple as 'waking up early was rough' can spark a deeper thought about resilience or time management. My clinical instructor always emphasized looking at not just what happened, but how I felt and why I reacted the way I did. It's like 'mirroring' your professional self to understand your growth and how your 'life story' as a nurse is developing. Now, with the 'last day of clinical' behind me, my focus is shifting. I know I 'have 3 more exams' looming, and then 'Med surg here I come!' The thought of that next big step is both daunting and exhilarating. All these experiences have prepared me, and it's truly 'time to finish strong!' I've started keeping a simple clinical journal – nothing fancy, just a few bullet points after each shift. It’s been amazing to look back and see my progress. For anyone still in the thick of it, or if you're just starting and thinking about 'journaling' your experiences, I highly recommend finding your own reflection method. Whether it’s talking to a peer, writing it down, or just taking a quiet moment, it helps solidify your learning and emotional processing. It really is a vital part of becoming a confident and compassionate nurse. So, as I close this chapter, I'm filled with gratitude and a clear vision for the future. What about you? How are you navigating your clinical journey and processing these big moments? I'd love to hear your insights!
