twizel - Hooker Valley - some lake

1. View from the game room in the apartment, so zen

2. Rainbow 🌈 before the trek, didn't bother finding the pot of gold 🪙

3. fire place (real) at the apartment

4. Hooker Valley rapids, pretty blue colour

5. The view, it was hailing

6. Random lake before going up the valley. I love the shades of blue

Came home and saw wild rabbits running outside the apartment but they were too fast for my slow camera. Apparently they are considered pests here. but so cute 🐰

... Read moreWhile enjoying Twizel's iconic tourist attractions, I found the experience of viewing the landscape from a cozy game room especially relaxing — the calmness really set the tone for my trek. Hooker Valley itself offers more than just impressive rapids and mountain views; the subtle details like the varying shades of blue in the random lakes along the path make every step worthwhile. I even caught a rainbow before starting the hike, reminding me how nature constantly surprises us with its beauty. Interestingly, the area is home to wild rabbits—so quick and elusive that capturing them on camera is a challenge! Despite being considered pests locally, their presence adds a cute, lively touch to this serene environment. For anyone considering visiting, I’d recommend dressing for variable weather as it can be sunny one moment and hailing the next, adding to the adventure. The real fireplace in the apartment provided a perfect cozy retreat after the hike—a great way to unwind and reflect on the day’s breathtaking scenery.
