LIP FLIP REVIEW: is it worth it!?
okay so one of my biggest insecurities has ALWAYS been my gummy smile - I hated how small my teeth looked (& how much my gums showed). I never really thought I could do anything about it until I discovered what a lip flip was!
A lip flip is basically Botox injected into your upper lip to relax the muscle so it won’t pull your lip up so much when you smile. I ended up getting 9 units (2 on each side right below my nose, then 5 across my lip line). It lasts about 8-10 weeks, but I can wait almost 3 months in between appointments now.
💰Price: $12 per unit!
I did get 1 syringe (0.5 in upper lip, 0.5 in lower lip) about a month after my initial lip flip. I LOVED the results but couldn’t afford to keep up with it (about 2x per year). Regardless, I’m so happy with my lip flip results alone that I’m okay with no filler!
💰Price: $675 per syringe (🥴)
Do I think lip flips are necessary? Absolutely not. However, my results have drastically improved my overall self-confidence, & I’d say that for me, it’s 100% worth it. 🤍 Any questions!? Ask me below!! ⬇️⬇️ #bodypositivity #embracevulnerability
Okay, so after getting my lip flip, I know many of you are probably wondering about the nitty-gritty details, especially what life is like after the procedure! I got a lot of questions about how it affects everyday things like drinking or if it can actually "go wrong." Let me spill the tea on my experience, especially since my "before" gummy smile was a major insecurity. First off, right after my lip flip, I did notice a slight difference in how my mouth moved. It wasn't drastic, but things like drinking from a straw or whistling felt a little... different. My upper lip felt a bit numb or heavy for a few days, and honestly, trying to drink from a straw was a bit awkward at first! I found myself sipping more carefully, almost like learning a new skill. It wasn't painful, just a muscle adjustment as the Botox kicked in. It definitely improved within a week or so, and now I barely notice it. So, if you're worried about those fine motor skills: yes, there's a temporary learning curve, but it's totally manageable. Don't worry, you can still enjoy your iced coffee or smoothie without too much trouble after the initial adjustment period. Then there's the big fear: what if a lip flip goes wrong? I've certainly heard horror stories or seen some less-than-ideal before and after results online. Honestly, that's why choosing the right practitioner is absolutely key. For me, my results were amazing – my gummy smile totally transformed into a more balanced look. But to avoid issues like asymmetry, difficulty speaking clearly, or even drooling, make sure you go to someone highly experienced with Botox specifically for the delicate lip area. They need to understand the intricate muscles around your mouth to inject precisely. Do your research, check their reviews, and don't be afraid to ask for their qualifications and genuine before and after photos of their own clients. A good consultation should cover all potential side effects and what realistic expectations you should have. Minor bruising or swelling is normal, but anything more serious warrants an immediate call to your provider. It's all about finding someone you trust to get your lips done safely and beautifully. Also, let's talk about the timeline and how it wears off. My lip flip typically lasts about 8-10 weeks, but I've found I can stretch it to almost 3 months now before I feel the need for a touch-up. You'll gradually notice your upper lip starting to pull up a bit more when you smile as the Botox wears off. It's a subtle, natural process, not a sudden drop or dramatic change. This progressive return to your original muscle movement is why consistent maintenance is important if you want to keep those results. It's crucial to understand this "progress" throughout the weeks to manage your expectations effectively. It's not like lip filler where the volume stays put for much longer; a lip flip is purely about muscle relaxation to prevent that excessive lip lift. Finally, while my lip flip alone gave me fantastic results and really helped with my gummy smile, some people do combine it with a little lip filler, like I tried for a bit. The lip flip addresses the muscle that pulls your lip up, while filler adds volume directly to the lip tissue. They work differently, and knowing which one addresses your specific concern (or if both are needed for a comprehensive enhancement) is crucial. For me, the lip flip was the absolute game-changer for my self-confidence and finally getting rid of that gummy smile look. It really feels like I got my lips done in the best way possible, achieving a natural, confident smile I love!
