How To Become Disciplined To Achieve Your Goals

Many of us struggle with self discipline, we say we want to accomplish something and we set goals but we often don't stay consistent long enough to achieve our goals. In this video I will give you steps I used to help me achieve my goals (YouTube link in bio for video) (also will be linked in comments below)

... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! ✨ Ever feel like you set amazing goals but then struggle to actually stick with them? You're not alone! For so long, I found myself in a cycle of motivation followed by procrastination, wondering how to become more disciplined. I'd start with so much enthusiasm, only to lose steam days or weeks later. But I finally discovered some game-changing strategies that helped me build self-discipline and step into my 'disciplined girl era.' If you’re looking to improve self-discipline and achieve your dreams, here are the steps I personally used to build consistency and make real progress. First, I learned the power of defining my 'why.' It's easy to say you want to achieve a goal, but why does it matter to you? For example, I used to just say, 'I want to work out more.' But that was too vague. When I dug deeper, I realized my 'why' was to feel stronger, have more energy for my family, and boost my confidence. Connecting my goals to these deeper values made them feel less like chores and more like steps towards the life I truly wanted. This shift in perspective was crucial for me to create self-discipline and maintain discipline even on tough days. Next, I focused on building small, consistent habits. Forget trying to overhaul everything at once! I started with tiny, manageable actions. Instead of aiming for an hour-long workout daily, I committed to just 10 minutes of stretching every morning. This helped me build consistency without feeling overwhelmed. Once that felt easy, I gradually added more. This 'micro-habit' approach was key to developing self-control and discipline. It's about celebrating those small wins and letting them compound, rather than waiting for monumental achievements. The goal is to make the desired action so easy you can't say no. Another huge factor was creating a supportive environment. I realized my cluttered desk and constant phone notifications were huge distractions. To improve self-discipline, I started decluttering my workspace every evening, so I woke up to a fresh slate. I also set specific times for checking social media to avoid mindlessly scrolling. It’s amazing how much easier it is to be disciplined when your surroundings aren't constantly pulling you away from your tasks. I also found an accountability buddy for my fitness goals, and just knowing someone was expecting me to show up made a massive difference in how to maintain discipline. And let's be real, setbacks happen! There were plenty of days when I missed a workout or ate something I shouldn't have. Initially, I'd beat myself up, which only led to a downward spiral. But I learned to practice self-compassion. Instead of thinking, 'I failed, so why bother?' I'd tell myself, 'Okay, today didn't go as planned, but I can get back on track tomorrow.' This mindset shift was monumental in learning discipline. It's not about being perfect; it's about consistently getting back up. If you're struggling with self-discipline, remember that progress, not perfection, is the goal. Finally, don't forget to reward your progress! It's not just about the big goal at the end. I started celebrating small milestones along the way. Finishing a week of consistent habits? Treat myself to a new book or a relaxing bath. This positive reinforcement helped cement the new behaviors and made the journey more enjoyable. It's like training your brain to associate discipline with positive outcomes, making it easier to be a disciplined person. Embracing these steps has truly transformed my ability to achieve my goals and build consistency. It's an ongoing journey, but by focusing on my 'why,' building tiny habits, optimizing my environment, practicing self-compassion, and rewarding myself, I've managed to cultivate the self-discipline I always dreamed of. You can too! What's one step you're going to take this week to enter your own disciplined era?
