Anti-sniper action

Hey everyone! If you're anything like me, you've probably been absolutely shredded by a good sniper one too many times in Call of Duty or Vanguard. It's frustrating, right? But over my countless hours playing on PS5 and Xbox, I've picked up some seriously effective 'anti-sniper' maneuvers that have turned the tide for me. I wanted to share my personal playbook for countering those long-range threats, hoping it helps you dominate too! First off, you need to start thinking like a sniper yourself. Where would you hide? Snipers usually gravitate towards high ground, long sightlines, and common choke points on any map. Keep an eye out for that infamous sniper glint – it's your enemy, but also your crucial warning sign! Knowing common sniper nests allows you to anticipate threats before they even become one. My number one rule against snipers: never stand still. Seriously, ever. Always be moving, even if it's just little strafes while you're looting or waiting. If you're crossing an open area, zig-zag, slide-cancel, or better yet, find some cover. Movement is your best defense. Smoke grenades are your absolute best friend here – pop one to break line of sight and either push through the smoke to surprise them or reposition to a safer spot. Don't be afraid to use your tactical grenades! When it comes to loadouts, certain perks can give you a massive advantage. Cold-Blooded is fantastic to avoid thermal scopes, making you harder to spot. Ghost keeps you off enemy UAVs, making it harder for them to predict your flanking routes or aggressive pushes. As for weapons, if I'm aggressively pushing a sniper, an SMG like the MP40 or PPSH in Vanguard, or a fast-firing assault rifle, is my go-to. Their high fire rate and mobility are perfect for close-quarters engagements once you close the gap. Suppressive fire with an LMG can also sometimes make them flinch or reposition, giving you a critical window to advance. Don't forget stun grenades; they're super underrated for pushing a static sniper – blind them, then rush! Don't always feel obligated to challenge them head-on. If you know where a sniper is, actively look for alternative routes. Can you flank them? Can a teammate provide a distraction while you push from another angle? Sometimes, the best counter is patience – wait for them to peek, or wait for the engagement to draw their attention elsewhere, then strike. Communication with your team is vital here; pinging their location can set up easy crossfires. When you do decide to push, commit fully. Use tactical sprint, slide into cover, and pre-aim common angles where they might re-peek. Expect them to re-scope quickly, so be ready to snap to target as soon as they become visible. It's a high-risk, high-reward play, but incredibly satisfying when it works and you hear that kill confirmed sound! Every sniper is different, and every map presents new challenges. Pay attention to the kill cam – where were they positioned? How did they get the shot? Use that intel to adapt your strategy for the next encounter. Don't get discouraged; practice makes perfect, and soon you'll be the one making those snipers rage quit! These tactics have truly transformed my gameplay against snipers in CoD and Vanguard.
