Angel Fruit cake

New and even easier Recipe than my last angel cake! No baking or mixing required!! All you have to do is pick up everything in store!

This took me in all about 45 min to put together!

Ingredients

2 lbs berries, here's what I used:

- 1 lb fresh strawberries, sliced

- 16 oz bag frozen mixed berries, partially thawed in the fridge

16oz cool whip

1 large strawberry yogurt (make sure it has sugar in it)

1 large store bought angel food cake (sold at most store in their bakery section)

Instructions:

Assembling your Cake:

Chop your angel food cake into 1" cubes and place 1/3 of them into the bottom of your trifle bowl.

Add 1/3 of your yogurt and spread around somewhat evenly (it doesn't have to be perfect!)

Add 1/3 of your cool whip and spread on top pf yogurt

Add 1/4 of your fresh/frozen fruit. I thought it looked pretty to put the strawberries around around on the walls of the bowl, but you can do it any way you want to.

Repeat steps 1-4 until you have 3 layers of cake.

Arrange your remaining fruit over the top of your cake (you'll have the most fruit for the top since you'll probably want to make it look extra fancy)

... Read moreI absolutely love how quickly this no-bake angel fruit cake trifle comes together, and it's become my go-to for impromptu gatherings or when I just need a sweet treat without spending hours in the kitchen. What's fantastic about this recipe is its incredible versatility, allowing you to easily put your own spin on it and cater to different tastes or occasions. One of my favorite ways to really elevate this 'easy angel fruit cake' is through presentation, especially if you're aiming for that 'cake decorated with fruit' look or even 'jar cakes images' inspiration. Instead of one large trifle bowl, I sometimes assemble individual portions in small glass jars or clear tumblers. It makes for beautiful, ready-to-serve desserts that are perfect for parties and look incredibly elegant. You can layer them just like the large trifle, making sure to press some of those beautiful fresh strawberries against the glass sides for a pop of color, just as the original recipe suggests for the main bowl. Topping each individual serving with a generous helping of those frozen triple berries and a few extra fresh strawberries really makes them shine. Speaking of making it your own, don't be afraid to experiment with the fruit! While the combination of fresh strawberries and mixed berries is divine, I've also had success with other fruits like raspberries, blueberries, or even sliced peaches when they're in season. For a richer flavor, I sometimes brush the angel food cake cubes with a tiny bit of orange liqueur or a berry-flavored syrup before layering – it adds a lovely depth without much effort. And if you’re not a fan of Yoplait strawberry yogurt, a plain Greek yogurt sweetened with a touch of honey or vanilla extract works beautifully too, especially if you want to dial down the sweetness slightly and emphasize the 'light dessert' aspect. For those who enjoy a truly homemade touch, you could even whip up your own fresh whipped cream instead of using Cool Whip. It’s a little extra step but makes a noticeable difference in texture and flavor. Just remember to keep it cold! This recipe truly embodies the idea of a 'light dessert' – the airy angel food cake, combined with fresh and frozen fruit, and creamy layers, feels indulgent without being heavy. It’s perfect after a big meal or as a refreshing summer treat. The 'angel method' here isn't about baking the cake from scratch, but rather the ingenious way these simple, store-bought ingredients come together to form something so much greater than the sum of its parts. It's a testament to how 'cake ideas with fruit' can be both stunning and incredibly simple. So next time you're looking for a quick and impressive dessert, give this adaptable recipe a try. You might find it becomes your new favorite!
