Otorii, Oseihara (Old Shrine of Kumano Hongong Shrine) Japan - Takayama Otoji, Wakayama Prefecture - Kumano Honmiya Shrine
Otorii Osaihara (former site of Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine)
The tallest torii in Japan is a torii with a height of about 34 m in Kumano Hongu Taisha (Osaihara) in Wakayama Prefecture. The former shrine site where Kumano Hongu Taisha used to be. A large flood that occurred in August of 1887 swallowed the main shrine of Hongu Taisha and many of the main shrines flowed out, so the four shrines that escaped the flood were relocated to the current location of Kumano Hongu Taisha. In Osaihara, a small stone shrine is built to enshrine the four middle and lower shrines that were washed away. Osaihara, where the gods descended, has become popular as a power spot in recent years.
