Hey Toca Boca fans! Are you as obsessed with creating amazing worlds as I am? Lately, I’ve been pouring all my creativity into building the ultimate Toca Boca boarding school, and let me tell you, it’s been an absolute blast! If you’re looking to create your own, or just want some fresh ideas, you’ve come to the right place. This is just Part 1 of my guide, focusing on how to get started! First things first, planning is key for any big project like a boarding school. I usually start by thinking about the overall vibe I want. Do I want a super modern, high-tech school, or something more traditional and cozy? For my current build, I went for a classic, slightly whimsical feel. Once you have a theme, it helps guide all your design choices. Then, I sketch out a rough layout in my head, or sometimes even on paper, deciding where the main buildings will go and how they’ll connect. This helps me visualize the flow of the school. Next, let’s talk about essential rooms – every good boarding school needs them! I always prioritize dormitories because that’s where the students live. I like to create separate dorms for different age groups or even just boys and girls, each with its own common room for hanging out. Don't forget beds, wardrobes, and personal touches like posters or books to make them feel lived-in. Classrooms are another must-have. You can get creative here: a science lab with beakers and microscopes, an art studio with easels, or a cozy library for quiet study sessions. For my school, I made sure to include a huge library – perfect for those late-night study sessions! Of course, a boarding school isn't complete without a place to eat and socialize. A spacious cafeteria or dining hall is perfect for students to gather for meals. Think about adding a kitchen area with all the appliances, serving counters, and plenty of tables and chairs. I also love adding a lounge or recreation room where students can play games or just relax after a long day of classes. Outside, don't forget some green space! A sports field, a garden, or even just a nice courtyard adds so much to the atmosphere. On the left side of my main building, I’ve planned a huge sports complex! Decorating is where the magic truly happens! Once you have the basic structure down, it’s all about the details. Use different flooring and wallpaper to define spaces. Add plants, rugs, and lamps to make rooms feel more inviting. Don't be afraid to mix and match furniture styles to create unique looks. And remember, the little things like school supplies on desks, food items in the cafeteria, or even scattered books in the library make your boarding school feel alive and bustling.
